I think your idea would have been great before House of Brew got the automated stats page dialed in. Now it’s pretty much impossible to miss a milestone. I have always enjoyed picking through the “recent logs” page to see what the others are up to. Now it’s unnecessary, unless I want to beat the bot by a few hours.

I like the personalization of being first to congratulate someone I have met on the trail, vs. someone I have never met. I think milestones are something best shared on a personal level within our membership, but need not be a prominent part of the association website. (On the other hand, I am still all for integrating Brew’s site into the WGA site, much like Buxley’s site is now)

One of the things that I reflect on with much gratitude, and I’m sure many others too, is the e-mail I recieved from T&B after my FIRST find. I think it would be great if we could det up a system that makes sure every new WI cacher gets an introductory e-mail from the WGA. Most cachers I have met on the trail did not even know about the WGA. If it were not for you folks, i’m not so sure I would have kept on doing it, much less learn all the great things I have learned here. This could be set up very similarly to how the stats page works now, just looking for cachers logging their first find.

That was one of THE nicest things I have ever received by email as well. I was very surprised they noticed our *first find* log, and was very touched by the email.
