State of Mind Succession November 1st, 2004 – Wisconsin Geocaching Association

Lost Boyscout
Just wanted to let everyone know Uncle_Fun and Lost Boyscout will be archiving our State of Mind caches on November 1st, 2004. This will account for 36 of the 50 S.O.M. caches.

We talked it over because there has not been a lot of activity on our caches. We have also noticed “cacher trails” leading to many of the caches.

This will open up a bunch of new cache sites, in Milwaukee and Waukesha counties, for new caches for everyone to hide/ find.

If you have not finished the series yet you will have 3 months to complete it.

The other owners of the S.O.M.’s are free to keep their caches if they like.

The DC cache was my only disappointment of the series. Once I completed the series it took months to get the coords for DC and then they were wrong. I just decided to let it go and not even ask for new info.

I’m not sure exactly what had changed since the original Washington D.C. cache, but one of the main factors was that Socko had to be present for one to finish the cache. It was a wonderful way to end the series.

Socko’s work schedule and computer problems have prevented him from being available or even log finds for the last few hundred caches he has hunted. It is unfortunate, but probably even moreso for him and his family. The great caches they have given to SW WI are many of my best memories of geocaching. I’m just glad to know that he’s still out their hunting whenever he gets the opportunity.

Well we better get going and finish the final sixteen to get DC. Keep an eye on us, because we have to finish these. Thanks for the heads up!

I have no problem retiring the 4 caches in the series I have adopted .. it would give me the opportunity to introduce some new ones.

I will contact Socko/ Jonathan regarding a group outing to the Washington DC cache before the end since so many of us have come up empty handed.

I noticed that State of Mind Kentucky has been down for a while. I checked this morning and the cache container is missing. I will replace it and get it back in action soon for those seeking to complete the series. If that is okay

This cache is still owned by Socko & company. If you would like to help him with the cache call or e-mail him directly. Not really a forum topic.
The owner is the one that will need to activate it.

Earth Angel and Duelist each planted a travel bug while in Florida last spring. They are both racing to SOM Wisconsin. One travel bug is in Oregon right now and the other is in Connecticut. Anyway this one can stay open for awhile? I don’t think either one will make it back here by Nov. 1st. Thanks from Tami

For the right price I could consider leaving SOM-Wisconsin open for a while, seeing as that one is such a unique hide.

Not only that, my youngest (James Bond Jr) informed me today that he wants to make that his 300th (he is at 213 right now).
