I remembered this year!! A few years back I didn’t remember, and showed up at a job site a full hour early. Not fun, and sorta embarrassing. Live and learn, I guess….

Arrrg I hate daylight savings time! No More caching when Tom gets home from work He’d go out in the dark but the kids won’t and I won’t let him go without me (why should he have all the fun?) Oh well, weekend caching is fun too!!

Two years ago we forgot to ‘fall back’. We had planned for a full day of caching and, as is our habit, write the times in on each of the logs. That afternoon we stopped at Borzynski’s market for carmel apples. Knowing they closed at 5pm, we hurried to make it there by 4:35. We even commented to the clerk that she only had 1/2 hour left to her shift. She gave us a strange look, but said nothing. Upon arriving home and turning on the TV in the hopes of seeing a show at 6pm, we finally figured it out! We laughed that all of our logs that day have incorrect times and the carmel apple clerk really had 1.5 hours of her shift left!

Luckily we didn’t have any true appointments that day, just fun activities with no specific times. It was funny to post our logs that night and see others comment how they were there at the same time as us (seeing our log), but didn’t see us….we just were there an hour before each and every time!

I didn’t worry about setting the clocks because I knew the kids would do theirs and my phone, tv and vcr would all go automatically. I woke up at 5:38 flipping out about the d@#&*d alarm clock on my phone not going off. We were supposed to pick Lucy and Tishman up between 6:15 and 6:30…as we live half an hour north of them I knew this would be a problem. I ran into the bathroom while TravellingFlyboy lay there laughing at me. (I have to say I was none too pleased about that either! ) I turned on the shower, looked out the window and started to laugh as I realized that my body had turned on it’s internal clock, and that the time was actually 4:38. …water off…back in bed…yeah right, 20 min. more sleep?…BLAH! Yes dear, I know it’s only 4:45… …thanks!

We were ready to leave at 5:45, but somehow we managed to piddle around and not make it until just before 6:30…sorry Lucy, sorry Tish! Breakfast? Nah! We hit the oasis on the way to Chicago…the Commander and Boss Pat were late anyhow!

Did you say that the Commander was late? Maybe he should take remedial lessons from spiderjugs!

That’s not exactly what happened. Pat & I were undecided about going Sunday. (Sunday being my day to lay around and watch football) We did have our clocks set back, and were up early, having a discussion about whether to go caching or watch football. (all you married couples know those “discussions”) So just when I think I’ve won the debate, we get a call from Linus. Needless to say, you now know why Pat is called the Boss. (Rhonda knows ) So technically the commander wasn’t late.

Actually…the Commander WAS late! As we knew we would be a few minutes behind schedule I called him to let him know that. At this point we found that he and Boss Pat were still at home having a conversation about whether or not to meet up with us. I told him to call me back when they finished the conversation…which he did. They were heading out and would call as they approached the area. So…sorry commander but technically since you chose the time and place and weren’t there because you were still home deciding whether or not to actually go…you were late!

In the end it doesn’t matter anyhow! We got to do BoB’s …and then some! We got to see Tishman the amazing galloping BoB finder! We got to tell TravellingFlyboy where to go all day! We got to walk, and talk, and laugh about a lot of funny things! We got to share a good meal and Lucy even got to give her “We’re Geocachers, come join us!” speech. (I love to watch her pitching our sport!) A fun time was had by all!

    Daylight savings time…
I remember the days when the DST law was enacted. We had only one clock in our house. Today we have digital clocks built into the microwave oven, the kitchen range, the coffee maker, the thermostats (2), the TV sets (3), The VCR/DVDs (2), The desk top computer, the lap top computer, the cars (2), the Stero, alarm clocks (3), travel alarms (2), a pocket watch, wrist watches (4) Clocks on the wall (2), GPSr (4) and a partridge in a pear tree. Some of these reset in April and October automatically, others don’t. I can’t keep track of which. I found that it’s best to let the event pass without concern…afterall it is Sunday. Then look for the clocks that have updated to get the correct time. I know the wall clocks and watches will need manual resetting.

The whole business seems to have gotten so confusing. All we are trying to do is get an extra hour of daylight during the summer. Why do we try to fool ourselves into thinking the time is something other than what it is?
