I don’t know how wide spread this is but be aware to the potential of a cache that was “disabled” becoming “enabled” by itself. I had disabled my “Port Puzzle” (at 53074) last week for some maintenance, I know that is was still showing as “disabled” during the day yesterday, then yesterday evening I went to make a note that it was up and enable it again, but it was already enabled and I’m 100% sure I did not do it and that several hours earlier it was showing as disabled yet. I know that GC.Com had some database problem (cache searches in my area had wrong “last find dates”), I suspect that when GC.Com fixed the problems that some disabled caches (at least mine) got reset to active.
So …
If you own a cache that’s disabled, double check it now.
If you’re going to seek a cache, check the most recent log entries to make sure it doesn’t look suspicious as to its current status (ie. recent owner log entry showing it down for repairs or something).
Side note …
I’ve checked other caches listings in my area, I see others that are still disabled that have been so in the past. This MIGHT be a problem only with caches disabled in the last few days or so. Which would make sense if by chance GC.Com had to “restore” some data from a “backup” to fix their database problems.
