Not sure how many of you saw the log … but the First Wisconsin cache that was deactivated a year ago, because it was given up for lost … was found yesterday! If you go to the cache page for “Pike Powder Hike” and click on the link in the text about the first cache … you will see yesterdays good news. I assume it will be reactivated soon.
You are talking about Commemorative Cache
by Wisconsin Geocaching Association. The 1st cache in Wisconsin was never found and located in Sheboygan. I think it would be so cool for a local to put a nice cache in this exact spot for historical sake. I have done the 2 closest caches and wish that I could have visited this historical spot now that I know about it.

I’m confused. In Nov. 2003 I checked the location for Commemorative Cache and couldn’t find it anywhere. I’m wondering where houseofbrew and Socko found it. Personally, I don’t think it should be reactivated because I’m not convinced it’s in its original spot.
Ok, I hope I don’t ruin the surprise here, but it was offset from this bench that overlooked the lake about half way up the hill. It was seriously about 7 feet higher from the spot I found it over 16 months ago. So we moved it down to the crotch of the trees where we found it last. I remember that last year, the coordinates got us pretty darn close to the cache, and that this year, the cache was prety darn close to the last place we found it (Although we didn’t have coords this time.)
Ken: If you’d like, I”d be more than happy to accompany you there and show you the spot. Just drop me an email at houseofbrew at gmail.com
The entire cache was in awesome condition, and had the same trinkets we left in there over a year ago.
we read all the old logs. It was awesome.
