The cloak of secrecy has been removed, and we are now allowed to reveal that there will again be a release of Jeep travel bugs. I’m told this year, the travel bugs will be Jeep Wranglers, and they will be larger then the yellow Jeep travel bugs.
I asked for 80+ Jeeps to distribute to Wisconsin and we’ll just have to wait and see how many Groundspeak sends us.

KC9GMW05/24/2005 at 8:01 pm #1738078Thanks Brain for the update. There was a full page ad in the newest issue of Backpacker magazine and I posted this topic in “general”, but ya all were gone to the campout.

“Be safe and Keep on Searchin”06/02/2005 at 2:21 pm #1738081I don’t know when I will receive the WI Jeeps, or how many we will receive. This year they are dispursing the Jeeps based on the amount of cachers in a given state. Last year I received 80 TB’s. I asked for a similar amount this year, but we’ll see what happens.
Once I have the Jeeps, I make arrangements to dispurse them to geocachers around the state. Last year I held a meeting in S/E Wisconsin to give away about 1/2 of the Jeeps. Others were mailed to geocachers around the state. Several Geocachers helped take piles of Jeeps to different parts of the state to distribute them.
Each jeep needs to have a TB tag attached to it. There are several volunteers that are assembling the Jeeps so they can be sent out to the Admins. It may take some time to assemble thousands of TB’s.

KC9GMW06/02/2005 at 3:55 pm #1738082I got a preview of the new Jeep Travel Bugs last weekend. They are MUCH bigger than last year and bright white.
06/02/2005 at 5:47 pm #1738083geocaching.com main page says the contest starts june 6, so hopefully the tb’s will be distributed soon after that.
06/08/2005 at 2:03 am #1738084Any word on these yet? I have been a searchin and not a findin. Oh the pain of having to wait. This is like being a kid at Christmas.
06/08/2005 at 3:31 am #1738085What’s This?

Stay tuned for details!
06/11/2005 at 3:36 am #1738086The Jeeps have arrived! Look for them in caches near you. Each Jeep has been personally “test-driven” by my 3 year-old-son and is ready to go!
More details coming soon!
06/11/2005 at 3:46 pm #1738087Here’s the plan…..
I am sending some Jeeps out for others to distribute in all parts of the state EXCEPT the SE corner.
For that I am going to be holding a Jeep Giveaway event. It is tentatively scheduled for Saturday June 18th, from 10 to 11 AM, somewhere in the West Allis / New Berlin area (I haven’t decided quite yet).
When I get the event page put together, I will post the link here.
I am also looking for a cacher in the Wausau area to distribute a few Jeeps in Central Wisconsin. Please contact me at: wga2-admin at wi-geocaching dot com.
06/12/2005 at 12:59 am #1738088Would love to put a jeep out in the west(WESTBY) for you.
