I was waiting for them to post it so I because I didn’t want to steal their thunder, but I think we have some modest geocachers….
Today, July 27th, “Live at 5” on Channel 3 in Madison will be showcasing a Geocaching story. Boardmembers Mrs. WISearcher and Cachew spend sometime last week showing Steve Van Dinter of Channel 3 around some geocaches in Gov. Nelson State Park, North of Madison. After the interview and hunt, Steve was quoted as saying “I’m hooked”. I think it will be a 3 minute segment.
I will be recording the story for all of you outside of the Madison viewing area.
I can put a (low bandwidth) version on WGA, depending on what CacheCows might allow. I say this because I suspect it might be a popular download.
Here’s a thought: I would be willing to donate my time, DVD burner, and DVD-R’s to burn DVD’s of the story for anybody that might want a copy of our local “celebrities”
I’m wondering if the WGA board might want to receive a small donation for each DVD from interested WGA Members. (say, $2 or $3?) Perhaps they could be purchased at the upcoming picnic?Let me know if you are interested in a copy.
Congrats to Cachew and Mrs. WISearcher for a job well done!

Actually a website in China already has it for sale, right next to the Star Wars movie.
But maybe a laptop could be setup in the shelter at the picnic with the media being played in a loop … autograph table nearby.

is the website for the station. They seem to put videos online there… is that another source?07/27/2005 at 4:23 pm #1738210I know the guy that does the video DVD production for the show (if it’s still him). He does good work. Unfortunately, we’re not on speaking terms anymore, so I can’t cut a deal there.

07/27/2005 at 10:40 pm #1738212for only being a 3 minute piece it actually covered geocaching really well. better than the groundspeak DVD for sure. love to see how many logs those caches get after this!
07/27/2005 at 10:54 pm #1738213Why not contact georadio ? This site seems to be asking for geocacher’s input all of the time.
07/28/2005 at 1:54 am #1738214No post of the video on Channel 3’s site yet…
Check out this Link to view the video.
http://www.veroeven.com/content/view/35/1/It is only 6MB (for a decent version), and if I start to approach using up my 75 GB of bandwidth per month, i’ll pull it.
Enjoy!
Mr. WISearcher

07/28/2005 at 4:21 am #1738220I would love to get a DVD copy.
07/28/2005 at 4:26 am #1738221I just watched it on your website, (sorry about sucking up some of the bandwidth!) and it was FANTASTIC!!! Rhonda and John – you did a great job! (WTG on the CITO shirt! Gotta get that part of the message out somehow too!)
And the reporter did a nice job as well – I think he covered it well, and seemed excited about it too.
FYI – The Channel 3000 website can be V-E-R-Y slow to update over the weekend….
I’ll wave *hi* to all the visitors now!
