On August 20, Uncle Fun and I are planning to hold a one day event called the Highway 100, 100. I am in the process of hiding 100 caches along a stretch of Highway 100 between North Avenue and south to the lake. Most of these will be Urban caches, due to the nature of the areas I am having to place them, so discretion is the key to finding them. Uncle Fun is doing the event planning part of the series while I am hiding the caches. As of this date, I have 40 hidden and hope to place another 20 or more this weekend. I don’t know where the event will take place yet, so I am just posting this notice to alert people of the date. Hope to see many of you there! I am thinking of having a get together at my house at the end of the day for anyone who needs help or just wants to visit. Let me know what you think.

This may be my fault. Before the picnic date was announced I reminded Socko that the picnic has been typically later in August.

Now that the picnic date has been announced, I hope Socko can adjust things so they don’t conflict.

    Mea culpa, me a dupa.

    WGA picnic is Aug. 13th
    100 on 100 is Aug. 20th
Count in the ecorangers for showing up (at both events).
Need any help, e-mail me. Tami

Socko filled us in on this event at the Custard event last weekend. Sounds like fun guys! PDA’s loaded w/ the date…now if only we had some co-ords…

10 more placed this afternoon. That makes 56 down, 44 to go. Over half way there.

Any chance that these will be permanent caches, or will they be temporaries? I think it would be great if they were permanent, for a little while at least. Would be another fun series, like the 50 SOM’s. (Also avoids all that controversy over logging temporaries!)

So far just a couple are too close, ie, under 1/10th of a mile apart, to be permenant. Also, I can’t see how I could get all 100 to come on line at the same time. It was hard enough to get the 50 SOM up at the same time, and this is double that. I had planned to have at least 10 or so to be permenant, to allow people to log 10 of the temps. per cache page. I will email Brian to see what he says. Maybe he can preapprove some of the caches and hold them till the event or something like that to make it easier. I will see what I can do. I will leave the series up as long as I can to allow people to hunt them longer than just the event day, but sooner or later some of them will go missing and I don’t have the time to maintain 100 caaches, since that in itself would be a full time job.

100 temporary caches for the event – no problem!

It would be next to impossible to get 100 regular caches approved before August.

I am having some t-shirts made up for the event and will post a picture of them as soon as I get one from the vendor. The cost will be $12.00 – $15.00 each. Drop me a line if you are interested!
