As a result of the thread started here by Cathunter and previous board discussion; the decision has been made to no longer allow users to delete messages they post. The option is still available for users to edit any of their posts.
Thank you for your input.
02/03/2006 at 11:51 pm #1738716Thanks for the leaving the option to edit. Any chance of rigging up Spell check?? LOL Ok, that’s pushing it I guess. Hey.. a bad speller HAS to ask!!
02/04/2006 at 12:04 am #1738717Firefox has a spellcheck plugin (I believe) and SlimBrowser (which I use) does also. Not sure about the others but I’m sure they’re available… In the meantime there’s always this option

Hey.. a bad speller HAS to ask!!There are a couple spell check add-ons for phpBB (the forum software that we are switching to). The best one is this SpellingCow thing, that unfortunately requires a $25 per year payment to get rid of the ads it normally displays, or $500 if we want to actually run the spell check code on our server.
Maybe we should go back and find all the misspellings in the forums and charge the offenders a nickel or quarter for each error? We’d probably raise the money we need with lots to spare…
I’ll play around with the various options available for the forums, but personally I’m going to stick with creating my posts in a word processor with a real spell checker and grammar checker.
02/04/2006 at 2:28 pm #1738721I just realized a couple days ago that I have spell check in my Safari browser. Thank goodness, my spelling is so good, I don’t need it (yeah, right.)
If you have an edit on your tool bar, check it — you might have a spell check too.

Does any one have a READ-check? I am wondering what an edit on a Bar stool is.
02/06/2006 at 8:27 pm #1738723My favorite spell check tool is Spellcheck Net. Just paste in all your text, click on the Spellcheck Text button, use the drop down menus that appear on possibly mis-spelled words, select the correct spelling, and when done, Apply Changes. Then copy the now correctly spelled text, and copy and paste it back into your post.
Each body of text you paste in for spell checking can be up to 20k in size too.
02/06/2006 at 11:37 pm #1738724Thanks for all the input on the spell checker stuff. When I write more lengthy posts, I do the cut and paste from WORD….but……have to admit….I’M LAZY SOMETIMES! LOL On short posts, as this one, I just type, pray and hope for the best!! ROFLMBO!!
