So since Geocaching has become such a political topic as far as land managers going after certain caches recently, how does one now hide a cache with permission?

I know that the WGA is very active with State Parks, but what about the smaller entities like the County and Local level?

Does the WGA have some sort of “cold call” text letter/email one can/should use to contact their local City Parks & Rec. dept. ?

Can anyone “Markwell” me to a thread that would answer the question if it’s taken place already?
    Signed,
Scared to hide a cache nowadays.

The WGA does not have a prepared form or statement at the present time for approaching land managers, but it’s something we’ve been thinking about. Jeff of Hot_Dogs_Off_Trail has an idea for a information package that would serve this purpose. I believe he wants to talk about it at the campout meeting. We will, of course, post news about it afterwards for members who cannot attend the campout this weekend.

I recently made an attempt to obtain permission to place caches in Milwaukee County Parks. I specifically asked for current parks policy regarding geocaching. This is the response I got:

    Dear Ray,
I don’t know if you are referring to metal detecting. If that is what
geocaching is then you are allowed to do that in the Milwaukee County
Parks, but if you do any type of digging you must but the soil back the
way you found it and you can not do metal detecting on the golf courses.
