Does anyone know of a method, or free tool to convert a .pdf file to a .jpg or .bmp???

I use screencapture 32. This application can capture all or part of the screen, then save the capture as an image or print it.
05/16/2005 at 11:38 pm #1740534Ever wonder why the “Print Screen” key on your keyboard doesn’t work? Actually it does.
In Windows, it copies the entire screen to the clipboard. Then you can just open your favorite editing program and hit “ctrl-V” (paste) and whalla… there it is. Edit it and save it as you wish.No additional screen capture program required.

Screen capture works unless you need a high resolution image from the PDF. I for a high resolution conversion, I use the free PDF viewer GSview. This program requires that you also have the free Ghostscript PDF/PS interpreter installed (install this one first).
Both can be downloaded here:
http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/Options include converting to JPG, BMP, TIF images at up to 600 dpi. For a REALLY high resolution image (billboard size ), you can convert to an EPS and then use Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator to blow it up to any size.
Send me an email if you need more help on this Brian…

Gosh, and I already have those installed to view postscript files. Guess I should get around to knowing how to use the applications I have on my computer some day.
05/19/2005 at 11:43 am #1740537Thanks folks. I tried Cathunters suggestion and it works…but not the resolution I needed. I never knew that the print screen key copied to the clip board. You learn something new every day.
Sounds like the programs that Jeremy suggested will do what I require.
Thanks!
05/20/2005 at 9:38 pm #1740538If you can get it (there’s a one-month free demo online) Macromedia Fireworks can open single-page PDF files and save them into any format you desire.
