If you haven’t done it and it isn’t on your watch list, I did it today and the conditions are pretty good for doing it. No ticks and the grasses are laying fairly flat.

I still feel that Lord Of The Caches is one of my all time favorite caches. A lot of work went into creating these caches. I found it shortly after it was created. At the time, Fields of Gold were indeed fields of gold. They were about 80 acres of grass fields filled with yellow dandelions.
The only problem I had was with stage one, I started on the wrong side of the river. I could see the cache, but I had to back track and go to the other side of the river.
Since stage two was named Fields of Gold, It made sense at the time and saved me from trudging through the swamp, as many others have.
It’s unfortunate that the final position got swamped. You can tell the area is easily flooded and it’s positioning would have held it under water.
If I remember reading right, the cache placer Bill-bo, moved out of stated. Maybe one of us should adopt it and to keep the Trilogy alive.
I was thinking of redoing stage two with a new log book and container as well as stage three. I think an ammo box is in order here. I see Bill-Bo is in Oregon now and has done a cache or two last month so they must be getting notification as logs are made. I wish they would speak up and ask for help.
Stage one was the easy one for me as I used the picture program to scope the cache site. Naturally in offsets, the remaining stages remain a mystery until you get there. As my log implied, I took the direct route to stage two and the trail rapidly deminished. It was .50 miles of stepping from dry spot to dry spot. When I got to the cache area, I slapped my head and said “Doh!”

This cache has been on my list for some time. I chickened out and waited for the ice as well as the grass being flattened. I enjoyed the walking and touring the marsh this time of year. I simply can’t imagine what this must have been like in July and August! YIKES.
