We have not hunted caches all over the U.S., but do have to say some of the best ones we’ve found are in northern WI. Oconto and Marinette counties are home to a lot of caches. Most are in absolutely gorgeous areas, are very well stocked with trade goods, and are well maintained. Many we’ve visited in other areas do not quite live up to these claims.

So an invitation to those from other parts of WI and the U.S. – if you want some terrific cache hunting experiences, head north! And there are lots of other attractions to keep your interest, too.

Although i’m not lucky enough to be living there (yet)- I have to agree wholeheartedly.

Southern WI is about great event caches- Northern WI is all about location!

Hey Gram&Gramps! I closed on my “Up Nort” property in Mountain near Chute Pond last Friday!
I will have to attack some of the caches when I get some time.

How is up nort for winter caching? We’ll be in the Nicolet Natl Forest area in January (ie Camp U-Nah-Li-Yah) and are hoping to do some caching and taking a bunch of newbies with us.

There are actually several caches almost within walking distance of Camp U-Nah-Li-Yah. We have done them during the warmer months, but do think most would be winter friendly. And we have completed some of the others in the area in a foot of snow.

And now, Miata, we will be nearly neighbors up north, along with several other GeoCachers.

I just had to reply to this one. When I first started there was 1 cache within about 50 miles of me, and now there are quite a few and they are really great. I’m a bit of a mover but I live in Mountain now and have been working on getting them all checked off. I even think I might put another one out that you should all watch for because its going to be a winner. There is a little bit of a common “Ground” in a lot of the caches up here and you will find out why they call the town Mountain. My mom and dad just put one in Suring and I sure with there were more in the suring/Gillett area, there seems to be a couple big holes around here with no caches. so maybe on your way up to check us out some of you could drop some new caches off.
