Back from a recent trip to central Illinois, and want to share some of my accumulated expereiences from half a dozen trips.

Some of the cities tend to have predominently woods and brushy areas to cache in – Lincoln, Decatur, Taylorville area – so go prepared.

Others have nice urban themes, like parks, playgrounds, etc – Urbana (very nice selection!), Springfield, Jacksonville – which you can do in shorts and sandals (Tami).

Monticello, well I did not make into town, but did hit the Allerton Park. This is a huge private reserve donated by an art collector to the state. Fantastic gardens, lawnscapes, woods with large statuary, etc. Definitely not good in summer, with lots of trees and brush to contend with.

And then there is Duncan Idaho’s caches south of Springfield, in Chatham area. Seeing is believing! Some are really twisted, like Mad magazine twisted. In keeping with the theme, I have suggested he place an Evil Monkey.

Thanks Marc for the cache update…we are looking for a place to go this weekend (labor day) and you can bet that I will be in shorts and sandals for as many as I can! Tami
