Just wanted to post a success anecdote…

I went through my first few sets of GPS batteries quickly. Buying the 12 volt auto adapter for my Garmin etrex Vista helped by not wasting batteries on the way to and between caches. Then I saw a link in a scanner (radio) discussion group to a battery source that sounded interesting. I poked around and wound up buying this kit:
    http://www.thomasdistributing.com/mh-c204f-4aa220dc.htm

*8* 2200 mAH AA rechargeable NIMH batteries with two carrying cases, a charger, a wall wart and a 12v auto adapter for the charger, all for $55 including shipping.

I am extremely pleased with the length of time the batteries keep the GPSr going. I’m going to buy some more of the batteries for FRS radios, flashlights and Matt’s Rokenbok vehicles (http://www.rokenbok.com). It’ll be a long time before I throw any more AA batteries into a trash can!

Hope someone else benefits from this tip. At the same time, if you know of an even better source, let me know!!!

    Hey Steve,

Wake up and pay attention where you’re posting! You should have put the battery thing in the “General” board, not the “picnic” board!

OK Steve, I’ll go move it now. Thanks for bringing the goof to my attention.
