Just got home from a very nice day caching in Madison. We planned to head to Milwaukee for caching this morning, headed out in the rain and decided we weren’t up to the mud cold and slop today. Decided to go to REI in Madison instead. It was such a beautiful day when we left REI (and we bought a new caching pack we had to try out), Alan broke out the PDA and cell phone to download some Madison caches.

The lack of posts on the message boards seems to indicate everyone had the same idea, of course some may not get the day off as a holiday

We had a meeting in Wauwatosa today and decided to hit a few in the area afterwards. Good thing I had my new rubber boots from Sherpers along! Mud everywhere. A nice day for us too.

We headed South to Lake Geneva in hopes of finding better weather there. It was raining when we arrived at Water’s Edge, so we skipped that one. It did clear up after lunch, so we re-visited Dome’s to Heaven in it’s new location and then took in a couple of rustic roads to add to K&R’s page. One of them was #29 and we just did it for fun thinking that A&A had already logged it. When I got back online I found that CacheCows didn’t even have a log on the page. I must have dreamed it!
Rats, wish we would have noted the coords and snapped a photo. Looks like we will have to hunt down another road in our new cachemobile tomorrow. Breaks my heart

I guess that since some are noticing we have deleted a few of our finds, an explaination is in order.

First… PLEASE don’t think that we are hinting, implying, recommending, or even suggesting that others do what we have decided. Nor are we in anyway slighting those that do otherwise. This is purely a decsion that WE have come to.

After following the threads and discusions regarding Locationless Caches (aka Do Anywhere caches), and also after considering the origins behind geocaching, we have decided that FOR US, the GPSR must be used to hunt the cache, and not used simply to mark the cache. Put another way, for us, the co-ordinates must be an input to finding the cache, rather than an output generated from having been at the location.

For example, the cache Prime Choices, requires you to come up with a set of co-ordiantes of which at least the lat or long is a prime, you then enter those co-ordinates into your GPSR and go seek that spot. That cache meets our guideline. However, many Locationless caches do not, as the GPSR does not come into play until ‘after’ you get there to mark the spot.

As such, based on OUR decsion (yes, I keep stressing that) we felt our find count was artificially high, and we’ve pulled the caches that didn’t meet our guideline. There were a couple of event type exceptions I left.

Again, please recognize that we in no way slight or frown or whatever those that do log or create these caches; we can each play the game pretty much the way we want to. This is simply something we felt we needed to do…

    Happy Cachine!

Hrmph! We buy a new caching bag to show off, and Yawningdog goes and buys a new cachemobile! Not Fair!!!

Just kidding, can’t wait to see it!

We understand and have no problem with you dissing our Rustic Roads cache. (Just kidding!) To each his own. In fact, we have elected not to post caches that we found that don’t meet our standards… for example LPS008 because it’s simply a matter of pulling into a parking area in the city next to a commercial establishment. Even though you do have to enter coordinates to find it, we decided not to claim it as a find. But as you say, whatever people want to do. To each his own.
There’s even a cache called Radio K.A.O.S that you can do without leaving your computer. Jeremy Irish has allowed this cache to be posted and more than 200 people have already done it, so we think it’s fine, even though you don’t need to enter coordinates to find it.

Thanks for understanding Ken! BTW, we had logged Radio K.A.O.S just the other night, and when I went to delete the log, there was a great big CONGRATULATIONS to us from Team Chaos for being the 200th finder. Great timing, eh? I left the log as I felt it would cause too much grief to try and get it out. I rationalized it as being sort of an event cache (at least I’m admiting to myself that I’m rationalizing it!). Think I may have left up one of the 911 WTC logs as well due to its nature…

    Later, and happy caching!

Hmmm… If I read this cache correctly, you are supposed to do more than pull into a parking lot. “Liquid Cache at the end of the trail.” and “You will have to follow the trail (a guide will direct you) to the end. At the end lies 4 containers with a golden supply.”

Sounds like a legit 1/1 difficulty cache to me

Oh, wait, nevermind… Caches are not supposed to contain alcoholic beverages

    Cache invalid!
