Lately there have been a lot of posts appearing on caches we are watching that go something like this: “Nice area. Now onto xxxx” (whatever the next cache was in their hunt). Well, that’s all fine, but how about doing the cache placer a favor by being more descriptive in your log? Why did you choose to hunt this particular cache? What were the weather conditions like? What did you see along the hike? What did you enjoy most about the cache placement? Did you trade anything from the container? If so what? If not, why not? (Hopefully you left something better than you took.) What will you remember most about this cache? It takes effort (at least it should) to create a good cache. If we all pay a return favor by being more descriptive in our logs, we’ll end up improving the quality of caches to hunt.
Totally agree! One of my favorite parts of the hunt is reading past logs. To have the time of day, weather, and thoughts on the hunt and/or area is a part of caching that I’m sure is enjoyed by not only the cache placer, but other hunters. Savor the moment if possible and share it with others.
