Just letting anyone know that I’ve not run away.. was out geocaching in northern IL since the Madison event. No internet access then so realize it’ll take me a few days to cache up on the almost 300 geo-emails I have plus to log my finds and read these boards and.. and.. get ready for the campout this Friday..

I hit a deer on 90/94 last night at midnight.. he grazed the side of my van and only shook us both up.. This was the 3rd “almost” bad accident I’ve been on geo-trekkin.. The first was a guy pulling out infront of me as I was doing 55mph.. I felt like a stock car driver veering around him and inbetween another car.. then down in FL I was passing a semi that decided to pass a car.. naturally I was in his way (grins)but a heavy foot on the pedal got me out of that danger… I feel blessed with all the miles that I’ve put on that I haven’t had worse things happen.

I was surprised that the state patrol doesn’t use lon/lats.. they asked me for the mile marker and didn’t even bother coming out to check for the injuried deer.. they just said they’d wait to see if others phone in.. how nice (grins)

I have a gift to donate to the campout.. I loved my NI-MH charger with 4 AA batteries so much that I bought one to donate to the event.. I was going to make a Aldo Leopold Bench but my father borrowed my miter saw.

If anything is pressing.. please email me again.. checking recent emails

Also.. I’m going to be making the Campout my 1500th find..

See you guys at the campout!

Actually, I was in an accident on 94 in Illinois a few months ago. when I got a copy of the police report, I noticed a couple of numbers on it that looked like coordinates. I plugged them into ExpertGPS, and sure enough, it put me right where I was.

I’ve got a feeling that when you call, they really don’t expect many people to have GPSrs in their vehicle, but it would be nice to be able to have that option during a 911 call, especially if you were on a rural road and not exactly sure where you were.

Glad to hear you are unharmed after your brush with a deer! And thanks for the gift offer. If you want the WGA to give it away, we would gladly accept it give it away during our summer picnic in August, because that’s when we have prizes and such. We aren’t planning any giveaways during the campout other than giving everyone the opportunity to hunt a bunch of fun caches, meet a bunch of fun people, and sleep in a bunch of fun tents.
