I just got back from a trip out to the Los Angeles area. I found a lot of cool caches including one called Slate Cottage Cache that was right next door to Ozzy Osbournes house! Maybe I’ll be on MTV in a background shot walking around with my Garmin V in hand!
I also met a Beverly Hills Park Ranger (did not know they had such a unit)who was really cool and showed me around to other parks in the area. They have some state trails that go right through gated communities. Imagine walking past a manned guard shack with your caching gear to access a trail…the looks you get!
Other notes: no wonder why many of the citizens out there want luxury cars with all the ammenities…they spend half there life in traffic! Imagine it taking an hour and a half to drive 12 miles!
Thank goodness for my gpsr detour feature. I learned to take the side streets like taxis do, you have to get off Sunset or Santa Monica BLVD if you want to move!
Finally: I got an email from the owner of POW/MIA cache near Venice Beach named Alpha Cat. He said he was so excited to read my log because he is a transplanted cheesehead from the Milwaukee area. He said three of his brothers are active Wisconsin Geocachers! Small world!
