Have the tick numbers started to dwindle yet? Just wondering if those of you who have been out recently are finding them to be decreasing in number yet.
06/03/2004 at 2:30 am #1747010I haven’t found any since the campout. I did some caches where I figured I would have had a few ticks.

06/03/2004 at 3:35 am #1747011Found a few in Northern WI, but only a couple. I think with the wet season now here, the ticks will be replaced by the mosquito as the bug du jour!

06/03/2004 at 1:40 pm #1747012Parts of northern Vilas Co. were loaded with ticks. Coming down from “Isolation Ridge,” I had about 12 on each pant leg and boot. Found another 1/2 doz. crawling on me driving back to the cabin and another few once we got back. 2 others ahd similar numbers while the 4th had only 3 on him. all of us wwlaking in single file on a game tail. Must pay to be last in line.
06/04/2004 at 2:42 am #1747013Thanks for the reports everyone! Ticks give me the heebie jeebies…. so I’ve kept myself busy with other projects instead of caching, lol.
06/05/2004 at 7:10 pm #1747014I just took one off me 5 minutes ago. Still crawling, not dug in. We were out at Hartman Creek last evening, setting up a series of GeoCaches for our Adventure Camp and found several on us. So I guess they are not dormant yet. Grandma & Grandpa
06/14/2004 at 1:37 pm #1747015Spent all day caching yesterday… well, a lot of time driving from cache to cache and a lot of time trying to find them… without a single tick or mosquito. I may have to move out here to the Seattle area permanently!

06/14/2004 at 5:07 pm #1747016We were out this weekend in the Eau Claire area and ran into our fair share of ticks. Not nearly as many as at the camp out, but there were still enough to be vigilant.
06/14/2004 at 10:57 pm #1747017I was in the tall grass and brush of SE WI much of the weekend and seen no ticks.
Then again, it could be related to the heavy coating of Deep-Woods Off I maintained to fend off the mosquitos.
06/15/2004 at 12:28 am #1747018Just a thought to all the suggestions to use Permathrin on your clothes.
Look out for epidermal damage to your skin with the stuff.
I used as directed and let my jeans dry overnight but had a nice patch of skin that still got affected by it the next day.
Use with caution.
I think I will stick with DEET. -
