Post your geocaching addiction story hear. I don’t think I count as an addict-only 30 caches. Stories can be real or made up.
-Dingo03/30/2004 at 1:45 pm #1747239You know you are addicted when you need to know who all the players are. Who is Dingo? Who is Steak?

Well, I too only have 30 finds, but I can see the onset of addiction taking hold… Where I work we just went to a 1 hour lunch break, which gives me time to find a cache every afternoon. Using Streets & Trips 2004, I created a 10 minute drivetime zone from my office, and then plotted every cache within the zone. So far, I’ve found every traditional in that zone. Unfortunately, some of the caches take longer to find, which means I have to skip eating lunch. As I start to find multi’s and expand my drivetime zone, I’m sure I’ll be missing more meals…
03/30/2004 at 5:32 pm #1747241you know you are addicted to geocaching when…
1. Your entire family owns headlamps so you can cache into the night.
2. New caches in your area cause a mad dash for the truck in an attempt to be FTF.
3. 20 caches on a Saturday seems pretty much routine.
4. You have a ‘special’ area in the house dedicated to caching. This area contains the caching backpack, GPS, PDA, batteries, maps, happy meal toys, travel bugs, ammo cans, etc.
03/30/2004 at 5:46 pm #1747242You know you addicted when it is 11:43 am on a Tuesday, and you’ve already been on Geocaching.com & WGA website 5 times, and you are at work.. uh.. multitasking?
OR, you keep seeing notifications that Ms. WISearcher is posting caches for approval for the upcoming Monopoly series. (Who also is at work! 😛
Mr. WISearcher
We have the GPS, now all we need is the tall ship![This message has been edited by WISearchers (edited 03-30-2004).]
04/04/2004 at 6:24 am #1747243You know your addicted when you can’t go caching for a day, so you spend your late night hours reading and posting on the message boards just for a fix.
You know your addicted when you get a phone call from a cacher who needs a little help, and your as thrilled as they are when they get the find.
You know your addicted when you can think of three or more reasons why your addicted.

[/B]You know you addicted when Ms. WISearcher rolls her pant legs up wades in to check for a cache that may be suspended over 3 feet of icy cold water. If the junior lotsacaches weren’t there, Mr. Lotsacache and Mr. WISearcher would have gotten a show, as Ms. WISearcher was willing to drop trow for the team. Mr. WISearcher was all for it.
I need to go hide, as I am probably in trouble now.
Mr WISearcher.

04/04/2004 at 4:00 pm #1747246You know you are addicted when after spending 14+ hours Geocaching on Saturday, you wake up Sunday morning wondering if you can convince the kids to go out caching again today!
And when Ms. Lotsacache would have joined Ms. WISearcher in that cold water search if the little Lotsacachers weren’t there. (Can’t give the little Lotsacachers any ideas!)

04/13/2004 at 4:11 am #1747248Hey Buck09, I am doing the same thing!
I have every cache within a reasonable distance from work figured out. Each nice day, I am outta there for the hour. Hiking boots and back pack are in the back seat at all times. I have started packing a lunch so I can eat lunch along the way.
Okay, now I know I am not going crazy if others are doing the same thing!

You know you are addicted when the worst thing in your life is that the nearest caches you have not found are over an hour drive away.

04/17/2004 at 5:00 am #1747250insanity #1- Brew: There’s a cache right across the street! Let’s hit that first!
Chili: The funeral starts in 15 minutes!
B: But if we hit the first waypoint, we can figure out the puzzle during the sermon!
insanity #2- Micro Brew, on seeing an empty film cannister, asks, “who left the microcache there?”
Chili
04/17/2004 at 3:37 pm #1747251I have been “saving up” the caches within driving distance of work for lunch time finds. If I have an afternoon or a day, I will travel out to get others. Is that being addicted?
