A couple of weekends ago Tishman and Co. was showing a friend the joys of cacheing. When Tishman decided to do a little CITO, He was explaining this to the new guy when he picked up a Samsung 17 in. monitor box lying close to the cache. It was heavy so he opened the flap to see what was inside. Joking he had found a new monitor. Well out rolls a can of Miller Beer. There were 24 beers in the box……still cold in fact. Also a 1/2 pint of whiskey. The new guys eyes got big , and he said “No wonder you guys cache”. We all laughed and assured him this hardly ever happens. We figured it was some teens stash…hidden away for a party in the woods. We went ahead and took it out of the area. You’ll have to ask Tishman what happened to the “prize”. So my question is, what little treasured or not so treasured items have you found in or near a cache?

while going with my wife and kids to a cache i had done and they were doing, i saw a lanyard laying in the grass. it had a whistle on it and to my great surprise two bird bands. the bands are put on waterfowl by us fish and game and other natural resource agencies. the only way to get one is to be lucky enough to get a bird while hunting or to get one from a hunter. they are kind of the trophy rack of the waterfowl world. (i have never got one hunting)

I found a bocce ball at near one cache. It was peeking out of the snow. I liked it, so I took it. It’s rolling around in my vehicle. I once found an arrow near another cache — this was in an urban park, which was a little scary.

When I placed my “Valley of Oz TB Zoo” series … as I placed one of the “bars” that leads to the “zoo”, I stepped on something. At my feet laying in the grass was a 5 piece open end wrench set. Looked to be about 20 years old, but it works great when putting the snowthower on the riding tractor.

On caching with our grand kids I have found baseballs and many times I run into golf balls at least ten so far. No real big treasures..

Hey what is it with golfballs? We find them out in the woods where it would take quite a swing to put them there…..LOL.

First I thought I found a human body, but it was actually just a vagabond catching a nap.

Then there was the 99% intact deer skeleton, complete with a nice 6 point rack. It had apparently hit a car and then ran the 1/2 mile through the woods before succumbing.

I have also picked up a couple of nice snail shells, but have had little luck identifying them or how they got there.

A couple hundred golf balls which I occasionally use to confuse golfers by throwing them onto the course at the same time they are teeing off.

A portable deer stand which a hunter quite surly couldn’t find again after setting it at the base of a tree in the middle of the Kettle Moraine. We won’t go there though.

Several baseballs and a bocce ball. One basketball in the middle of a swamp.

One of my favorites is still ground zero at ProStreet’s “Where did I park my Car?”.
