Anybody using that “new” browser Firefox?
Wondering how it reacts to .gpx downloads and such from GC.com etc… I’d really like to get IE off my system..
Your thoughts?
02/13/2005 at 2:56 am #1748417I had firefox running for a while. I liked it while it lasted. After my last F-Disk, I failed to reload it.
Not quite sure how it worked with the queries, but I don’t remember any problems.
02/13/2005 at 5:11 am #1748418It worked fine and opened EasyGPS since it was my default .GPX file program. I have both IE and Foxfire on my system with Foxfire as my default. Have not tried Thunderbird for e-mail yet though.
02/13/2005 at 1:48 pm #1748419Have been using Firefox and Thunderbird for the last month. No problems with gpx files, or for that matter, anything else.

I think I’m in.

It doesn’t seem to render the COTM voting page correctly, and it doesn’t work with the web-based E-mail system from my work. Other than that, it really works well.
I espically liked the “Tabbed Browsing” feature.

If you are referring to the problem with the percentage numbers overlapping the percentage “bars”, I fixed that a couple weeks back. I noticed it when I switched to Firefox myself, but it took me awhile to get around to figuring out the problem.
Just a reminder… if anyone notices anything weird on the WGA site when using Firefox (or any alternative browser), don’t hesitate to mention it in the “Suggestion Box” forum so we can get it fixed.
I also have Thunderbird installed on my laptop and it is OK, but I still prefer Microsoft Outlook (not Express). I’d probably go with Thunderbird instead of Outlook Express if I were looking for a free solution…

02/14/2005 at 4:56 pm #1748424I, too, switched to Firefox & Thunderbird at home and both are working great. I download .gpx files to my desktop and open them from there. Have had no problems with either program.
Thunderbird’s built-in spam filtering seems to work pretty well after a couple weeks of “teaching” it.
If you install Firefox, be darned sure that you download & install the corrrect java for that browser or you may have problems with web pages that have java. -
