Well, we took a hint from AuntieNae and company, and had a GDO – a guys day out.

I teamed up with Mattt and Miata, to do some caches between Fond du Lac and Beaver Dam.

We especially wanted to write off Wet Maze. Well after some wandering and floundering, we finally did find the cache. I think it was worth having wet feet all day, to claim this one.

Miata was the smart one, bringing up the tail end. He stayed dried. After finding the open water, we left it up to him to find the remainder of the way to the cache.

We started off down the frozen slough. Nice thick ice, no problem. Found the ‘deer trail’ mentioned by others. Nice clear path. Snow covered, but easy going. Until….

Well, I went thru and got my feet wet. Standing on the other side, I watched Mattt attempt another way, and saw he go thru up to his waist. I went to try and help him, and fell thru again up to my knee. Ok, that’s enough!

The rest of the day was a piece of cake!

Found several caches which were ice bound. Most we were able to kock loose, and get out. Two (Osborne and Lime Pond) were not.

Overall, we had a good day. Mattt collected 20, Miata 12, myself 8 (well 9, when Miata pointed out the speeding ticket can be a locationless!)

I led the way for a while but the anticipation of putting this cache behind us must have been too much for Marc to handle as he was leading the way when the ice got too thin. Matt was steps behind and decided to step to the right, which was deeper yet. It’s a good thing that Matt had a change of clothes!

The day was long but it seemed to go way too fast. Over all it was a very good day out!

Guy’s Day Out? eh? Sounds familiar. Glad you found a cache that Professor hid during your outing. Enjoy, Tami
We haven’t even attempted wet maze yet.
    congrats on “bagging” that one.
