Monday’s MQOTD …
Does anybody else love being outside in the woods so much, that they sniff their geocaching stuff (ie. geo-pack, GPSr, geo-etc) in the middle of the week, to bring back the weekend’s sensory memories.
I’m guessing this sounds strange … but I went deaf in one ear about 3 years ago, and my nose has since become more “in tune”. At work people have me guess what they’re having for lunch by smelling it from another room.
I was just wondering if I’m the only geocacher in Wisconsin that smells.

Can’t say that I do THAT, but I et addicted and readdicted to going out and finding more, the more often I do it. When I work my long 12 hr days for 6 in a row.. I get withdrawls really bad. In fact. Leaveing a just a few minutes to go HIDE a few more for my series. Bu-bye 4 now!! Catch me if you can LOL
Magellin or Garmin? Hmmm Find my way or walk in circles! LOL Sorry Garmin Users ;o)05/09/2005 at 8:01 pm #1749286Hey, Da Fu!
My main “machine” is an old Garmin Emap, with an added yellow rubber perfect fitting “jacket”.
To date, I’ve geocached with 3 teams that are running around with Magellans … in all cases we ended up in the same place, BUT my unit settled down on the correct coordinates as I approached them … the 3 other teams, always overshot and said “no, it’s 80′ more that way” … I’ve learned to stop at MY ground zero and wait for their units to catch up with their feet, within 20′ of where I’m standing.
Again, as of Stonehaven, this has happened 3 times now … seems like a very big coincidence.

Are you really sure you want to phrase it that way?

I can’t say that *I* sniff my caching stuff to get a fix. But the sense of smell is most closely linked to memory of all the senses, so I have other smells that get me all in a tizzy for various reasons. (Baking bread, lilacs, being in the woods, certain pipe smoke odors, the lake….) They all bring back very positive memories for me. So I can sorta relate.
