Anybody know what’s up with the geocaching.com website?

It seems that when you try to go to any specific cache’s page, you get a screen that starts with “Server Error in ‘/’ Application” and a ton of other junk.

I’m suprised no one else has commented yet .. or is this just happening to me?

Ditto. I was hoping someone here would have the skinny.

Yeah, they’re probably doing something with their servers again or whatever. I’m sure Jeremy won’t let the situation fester too long.

It appears as if the server is overloaded and not able to handle the large volume of page requests and updates. This happens mainly on weekends, Mondays, and around lunch time, from my observations.

Yes, I’ve experienced that many times.
    But this seemed different.
    Different error message.
And only when you tried to go to a specific cache’s page … the search/seek system was fine, for example (as long as you didn’t click on a cache).

I’ve now most likely seen the error you’re describing. It my humble opinion, is probably an application runtime error on the server, which isn’t being displayed because the current custom error settings for that application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely for security reasons. The application can have problems with the way it is written, file permissions can be set incorrectly, or an error can be lurking in the web.config or global.asax files. This may need to be reported to Geocaching.com with the exact details of what you were trying to do and on which page in order for them to fix it.

Wow, I was just thinking exactly the same thing.
    Ok, I lied.

Can I log that as a find?
