We started looking into the locationless caches yesterday, since we have run out of actual caches in our area, we thought we could start working on some of these. Can anyone give ideas or tips on how to best figure out what they are looking for with out having to read through 252 cache pages? Or anything we need to know.
Thanks,

basic rules of locationless caching apply (unless the cache “owner” implies differently)
1. one entry per cacher
2. each subject can only be logged oncetherefore it is important to make sure that the location you are going to post hasn’t been posted before. to do this, go to the bottom of the page and click on “view them all on one page.” then go to the top of your page to the “edit” button. click edit, then choose the “find in this page” option. a new bar will open up on the bottom of your page (at least that’s the way it works on mine) and there will be a search box……search for key words to make sure you will be the first person to log your location.
i like locationless caches. they’ve really helped me notice a lot more things when i’m traveling.

If you are paperless, (Using a PDA) You can do a Pocket Query of just the locationless caches.
Then you can view them in the Palm or Pocket PC and Keep them handy for when you run into them. If you haven’t gone paperless yet, it’s worth learning. We used to have a filing cabinet in the car. For once the paper you lack, you’ll never go back. LOL
Now, if you are not going that route, you still would run a pocket query, Use Spinner or GSAK to create the HTML files, and then view them on your computer.
There is a “how to get paperless” website out there. You would only follow the part that got you to the HTML stage. Anybody have that website bookmarked? It is how I learned and quite easy to follow.
If you want, I can show you at the campout if you are going.

Locationless Cache Checklist
This is a list with summaries and links to every locationless. They are all there on one page.Coordinate Distance Calculator
Here you can input the coords of the place you are interested in claiming and the GCXXXX number of the locationless cache you are looking at. It will compare all the coords listed for that cache already and tell you if the site you are interested in has been claimed yet or not.

While perusing, I noticed another one that looks fun that I hadn’t seen before: International Space Station, especially if you have a camera that can do a timed exposure.
05/13/2005 at 12:00 am #1749460GOOD IDEA Mr. WISearchers!!!
I didnt think of doing a PQ of the locationless files. So now I can load it in cachmate!! Sweet idea..! Ive been doing them the hard way and just looking at all the cache pages online. Guess I overlooked the PQ selection. Learn something new.
Thanks Obe One Kanobee!
“Be safe and Keep on Searchin”05/17/2005 at 2:06 am #1749461I posted another question earlier but it seems to be lost in cyber space, so I will try again.
Is there a reason there are no “new” reverse caches? Are they not be ok’d or are people just not listing them?
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Timberline Echoes05/17/2005 at 2:51 am #1749462Geocaching.com stopped accepting some cache types because they were not in line with what geocaching is traditionally about. Combine this with the fact that Groundspeak’s server farm is having trouble handling the number of site hits it gets as it is.
If you feel the need to look elsewhere, there are some other pretty cool gps games out there.

Timberline EchoesDo you suppose it’s like a calculator where you can type in the numbers, turn it upside down, and then read the word it makes??
