Perhaps one of you with DNR contacts could try to get a list of all state land managers and the areas they are responsible for?

It would be very beneficial to all of us to have this information posted here. I do realize we could call our district office and request such info, but it sure would be great to avoid all the hassle.

Perhaps in the future the DNR could assign people from each district be geocaching points of contact. Going straight to the “boss” does not seem like following a proper chain-of-command.

For the record, in the last year I have e-mailed 3 different DNR offices and left phone messages at 2. Nothing major, just simple questions. I have never had a response from any of the points I have contacted.

I brought up this topic when I spoke to the DNR a short time ago. They suggested that if you don’t know the land manager for a particular property, cachers should contact their nearest DNR service center and ask for their assistance.

Once we get more info from the state, we’d like to get it all posted on our website. Our WGA site should be a “one stop shop” for all the info you need on caching in WI.

I too brought this concern up to the DNR in my area when I got my permission for my cache in a DNR lake park.. The land manager in LaCrosse told me they do not have a master list of managers, but did say to contact the district offices and they will get you to the right person. I did my contacts both by phone and email.
