I have hidden the first two containers in Lapham. Here they are:
Cache 1 (with the duck stamp)In Support of Lapham Peak
N43° 01.991′ W088° 23.643′
stamp – Duck
Difficulty: 1 Terrain: 2
Hint: Uvqqra haqre n cvrpr bs jbbq bhgfvqr gur srapr nebhaq bar bs gur nagraan fhccbegf.
Cache 2 (With the angel with trumpet stamp)“Dang, I forgot my skis!”
N43° 02.544′ W088° 23.347′
stamp – angel with trumpet
Difficulty: 2 Terrain: 2
Hint: Yrnirf bs guerr, yrg vg or. Gerrf bs sbhe, pnpurf tnyber!
I checked out the site. It looks great! It looks like we will have some nice shade cover which will be nice for the non-cachers in attendance. Climbed up the tower, too. A very nice view! Tried to find a place to hide a cache on the tower, but nothing was suitable enough that I’d trust that the cache wouldn’t be found by someone else before the picnic. So I went for more traditional spots. And yay! No ticks!Nice meeting you, Brian. See you all at the picnic!

08/06/2002 at 2:56 am #1750806I placed 2 caches tonight (Monday). What a beautiful night, nice and cool outside and almost no bugs!
I did notice lots of poison ivy. Make sure you scan the area before placing your caches.

08/10/2002 at 4:57 am #1750807I uploaded a couple maps that show the locations of the caches that have been placed so far, along with an EasyGPS file. I can keep the maps updated if people find them useful (or I wouldn’t mind passing this duty to the CacheCows).
Click the links below to see the maps and download the EasyGPS file…

08/11/2002 at 1:18 am #1750809Ok, mine are hidden. I’m happy to see that Yawningdog only hid one because as I was going to place one of mine in a spot, I found that there was one already there!! You didn’t like the hornets over there either, did you? What are the odds? I was worried that I’d pick another spot on top of or close to his other one.

08/11/2002 at 3:32 am #1750810I got my temporary caches hidden today. I chose to hide mine on the other side of County C… I just hope people will decide to make the journey out to my caches because right now they are pretty isolated.
Also, I updated the maps and EasyGPS files that are linked to by a previous posting.

08/13/2002 at 2:38 am #1750811I hid my caches this evening… during the rainstorm. I had a rain jacket on but didn’t have the rainpants along so I got soaked from the waist down. The reason I’m telling you all this is because the two caches I placed are fairly close to Cheesehead Dave’s “Dang” cache. In addition to the rain reducing my desire to hike a long distance, another reason I didn’t venture far from the shelter was because I figure some of our older participants or parents with smaller children may not want to hike or drive a long way during the picnic. They can go find my two and the “Dang” cache all in relative close proximity to the shelter. If anyone thinks this is faulty thinking, just let me know. Here they are:

08/15/2002 at 2:13 pm #1750813I took the liberty to edit some of the above postings to get them all in the same format.
It should make it easier to view when we print them out, and when we copy them to another format.
08/15/2002 at 5:44 pm #1750814I noticed that some of the temporary cache posts don’t have difficulty and terrain ratings. If the cache(s) you hid don’t have difficulty and terrain ratings listed, please edit your post to include them. (Otherwise, I’ll assume that you want them listed on the cache sheet as Difficulty: ?, Terrain: ?.)
08/16/2002 at 6:11 am #1750815Jeremy and I hid our caches near the same spot last Saturday so it looks like we may have two caches to hunt at the springs, which is kind of cool, since it’s a very long hike to a great place that everyone should enjoy visiting while they are exploring the park. So, here’s my second hide:

Actually, I moved it Wednesday night, but on the way home decided where I put it was too far away from the others and it would be pretty tough to find. So I went out this morning and rehid it again in a location that’s easier to get to.
