AstroD-Team just wanted to say GREAT JOB to Ann “Da Fu” for organizing the Up Nort’ Event. We had a great time caching and seeing some cool sites in the Crivitz area.

While we “wimped out” early and decided to stay in a hotel Saturday night, many brave souls stuck it out. So did it rain?

We’d echo the Astro D comment – a hearty THANK YOU to Dan & Ann for a job well done. We’ve never hosted a caching event, but have organized many other events and understand how much work it really is. Placing and documenting a bunch of caches is a big job, and these were terrific – accurate, challenging, in a variety of locations and terrain, and interspersed with permanent caches.

Yes it did rain, nice and steady. We are dry now, but all of our gear isn’t! But a great weekend, new friends, and lots of neat caches has left us with warm memories.

    Thanks again.

Our trusty tarp kept us dry!!! Thanks Anne and Dan it was an awesome event. We really enjoyed having the time to visit and get to spend time with everyone there. Caching with others, talking around the fire, learning about the Beasts underwear dilema, sharing meals and just knowing that there are many others out there as addicted as we are was terrific. You guys did a great job. We are looking forward to other events in your area. Although, some day we will have to show you where “Up North” really is.
    Many thanks,

Thanks Ann and Dan for an awesome event! Great hides, awesome coffee, and profound discussion around the campfire. Some of the things I learned late Friday and Saturday night:
*Brian of The Tapps wins Late Night Keeper of the Fire Award.
*I learned how important Helen is to Ray in terms of taking care of his, um, er, brief needs.
*I learned more about pests that attack trees than I honestly would care to know.
    *Ecorangers can’t find rock hides.
*AuntieNae and The Tapps finally found the tank cache on the fourth try.
*It was really Don of Astro-D team that wanted to go stay in the hotel complaining, in his own words, “next to bugs, I really don’t adapt well to the cold.” George would have slept anywhere after crossing the blasted land during Bulls Falls cache.
*If you want to make people fall asleep at a campfire play jazz.
    *Ann never sleeps.
Ha! Thanks everyone, it was truly a blast! Same time, same channel next year?

What an excellent event! I would definitely make a return trip next fall if it were held again.

Anne really was the “hostess with the mostest” (or the “Energizer Bunny” ), staying up late at night to keep people entertained around the campfire and then getting up early in the morning to get coffee (and a full breakfast on Sunday) going. She was always doing something to make sure the residents of Camp Catch-a-Cache were fed, dry, and happy. It will probably take her the rest of the week to recover from all the activity and the lack of sleep…

And I can’t forget Dan, who helped with the placement of the many temporary caches. These caches were all quality hides that could have been listed as permanent caches on geocaching.com. There was also a lot of variety in the hides, with a couple “urban” type caches in bustling Crivitz, woods caches with longer hikes in Veterans Falls and Twin Bridges parks, and creative and tricky “mini micro’s” at Sandstone Falls Dam.

Aaaaaaaaaaawwwwh I don’t know what to say!! It’s what I do and enjoy doing. As for my caching buddy aka weekend hubby {As our spouses call us} LOL Digital Dan was a life saver and a wonderful help through the whole thing. Even graced me with a Congrats cake and 2 Allison Krause tickets for my graduation. Couldn’t do it without ya buddy!!

As for all of the attendees.. I feel very lucky to know you all and feel as if we are family now. Got to know so many of you a whole lot better.. and some of you….information overload ROFLMBO I had the best time with tons of laughs. So glad to be part of such an awesome sport and an even more awesome group of cachers.
