Hello one and all!!! I have the pleasure to announce the 2004 WGA picnic to be held at MacKenzie Environmental Center in Poynette (Coords will be posted on the event page when that gets up…which will be in the near future) on Saturday, August 21st.
MacKenzie is a wonderful surprise and great for the whole family. There is not terrible terrain difficulty; just enough hills to get you winded. There are many surprises for all ages. This area is a Gem. The director of the facility has been great to work with and is excited about us having an event there. This Center has acres and acres of beautiful forests, many nature and educational trail systems, and surprises that we will leave until the picnic. It has a large pavillion with electric. They have flush toilets near the shelter as well as a ton of picnic tables. There are charcoal grills and ample parking.
There are many areas that we will need volunteers (Temp hides, door prizes etc.) Give the board a little time and we will get the registration page as well as the event page up and running. See the Volunteers Needed page to see how you can help to make this picnic a great success!!!
This will be similar to last year’s picnic where it will be a potluck event and you will need to bring a dish to pass along with your own meat, utensils, plates, etc.
Take care and looking forward to another really fun event with a great group of people!!!

06/19/2004 at 1:07 am #1758145Unfortunately, the Paddlers are going to have to sit this one out. August booked up pretty quickly and we are actually hosting a big campout at our cottage that weekend.
The bruschetta, white wine and pancake flippers are all safely packed away until next year’s campout. See you all then!

06/19/2004 at 1:15 am #1758146Are there any camping facilities?
06/19/2004 at 2:03 am #1758147While I am sure there will be a very big turnout – our family already scheduled this weekend for a camping trip.
Perhaps next year the date can be established earlier so plans can be made.
Have fun everyone!06/19/2004 at 1:01 pm #1758148Uh-oh. I’m not sure if I will be able to make it yet as I have a conflict with a Packer game I have tickets for on that date.
I wonder how many others this will effect given the popularity of the green and gold.
06/19/2004 at 3:44 pm #1758149How many temp caches are planned just out of curiosity? Checking my social calendar, it looks like I might be able to make it….since I have next to no social life.
06/20/2004 at 10:32 am #1758150We would love to go but a 4 hour drive is just too much.

06/21/2004 at 2:54 am #1758153We’re planning on it! We’re looking forward to another well-planned WGA event!
As for camping, we know there are a few privately owned campgrounds. Sleepy Hollow is one we have driven by many times when we lived in Lodi. We’ll try to look into that for some who are interested.
06/21/2004 at 12:33 pm #1758154As far as I know, that weekend is good for us. We’ll most likely be camping somewhere in the area if we do come.
06/21/2004 at 1:03 pm #1758155Hey, the only weekend AstroD-Team has free in August!! Spent an anniversary at a B&B in Poynette. It is a very pretty area. Besides, I’ll be glad to get away from the Packer hoopla fo a day! (We live right near the stadium). Looking forward to the fun.
