Welcome back to the candidates corner. Last year we created this forum as a tool for candidates to give their biographys, resume’s and let members ask them questions.

    Guidelines for use:

    • Each candidate can create their own resume to place in this forum.
    • Candidate should start a new topic with the “subject” being their name.
    • In the body of the message, feel free to tell us anything you want about your self: What you do, hobbies, how long you’ve been caching, goals for the WGA, etc.
    • Members will then be able to post responses, and ask you questions if they like.

This forum will be retired after the election.

Allow me to be the first to ask a few questions of the candidates for the board.

1- Since the main board function is the two WGA events, campout and picnic, what do you intend to offer as a board member over the next 2 years to these events?

2- How do you intend to help mentor the other cachers in the state who might struggle with the accepted ethics of geocaching?

3- Since it is the caches in Wisconsin that make us what we are, what caches do you currently have out there that would be considered assets to Wisconsin (including past events you have hosted)?

I think these topics could help the rest of us understand what your vision for the board might be.

For the sake of discussion, perhaps the candidates could list any of the contributions they’ve made to the WGA? Items such as volunteering to help with events, hiding caches temp caches, any suggestions that have been implimented, etc…

Or, perhaps you may want to list any special skills or abilities that you would bring to the board.

It has been exciting to come to this message board and see that there are new nominations coming in daily! This is awesome! Since I am currently serving on the board I have one major question that I would like answered by our nominees(of course it is a mutli cache…oops I mean multi-question…hehehe-I always liked a 4/4 over a 1/1):

What direction do you think the board should take specifically regarding what issues you think should be addressed (if there are more issues than one what is the order of priority in addressing these issues)…and what skills/experiences do you have to help to facilitate this direction?

Thanks and congratulations on your nominations!!!

WGA Membership growth is showing a disturbing trend. In the past six months, we count 160 new members while 155 memberships expired. While we report about 650 members at year’s end, about 275 of those memberships have now expired. It appears that membership has actually leveled off at less than 400 with no growth while the number of cachers walking Wisconsin trails doubles annually. What do you see as possible reasons and how would you propose we get growth back on track?
