Nearly 600 finds and we still don’t know anything about him? Other than he wasn’t around this time last year.

You are 100% correct Beast. However, get your sanity chip on standby when you meet up with Russell!

Who is Russell_53040? Interesting question and difficult to answer.

I received an email last summer (I think) from this geocacher named Russell_53040. He was inviting me to go caching with him. Hmm, I have to admit I was slightly intimidated by the email. It was a period of time when I was averaging 200 finds a month and, I have to admit, had a lot of cachers emailing me wanting to go caching with me. I just didn’t want to put myself in an awkward position. That being said, he was new to caching, he lived nearby (did I know him already?), and I felt a bit uncomfortable. I responded to his email by referring him to ecorangers, specifically Professor. Next thing I knew Earth Angel said she ran into him and his wife at one of my caches.

Russell is an interesting guy. {{giggle, giggle}} He has a big heart, very generous, and he loves to hide caches, and enjoys reading about cacher’s adventures at his caches. It makes him very happy to know that kids (of all ages) enjoyed his caches and enjoyed the toys he leaves in them.

Russell_53040 is a kid at heart and even younger when it comes to manners at the dinner table. He likes to enjoy life and a part of that (and growing as each day goes by) is geocaching. The more devious the hide the bigger smile he wears.

So if you’re at an event and see a man acting like a boy, childish, fun-loving, belching, and laughing, chances are it is Russell.

So how are we supposed to tell him apart from other geocachers?

Yep BQueen describe me to a T. Glad she did leave out a few things. Don’t want to scare anyone away right away. A few things I would like to add though. Please if you have kids don’t let them feed me. I do bite. I have been getting better at not doing it. I cache better when I had little or no sleep. If you see Bqueen I am usually right behind her. I found that it’s the best place to be. I like the view. LOL When I find a cache I do the WHos your daddy and Go Garmin dance. I like to cache with others. I know I wont get lost that way. Lets see Diane did I leave anything else out?

He has a problem with grammar, the proper homonym usage, and rambles on at times. All-in-all: a great guy. He tends to complain a bit on the trails asking if we’ve done enough caches. Nobody is twisting his arm to continue but he’s afraid of getting lost since he uses a Garmin. Professor, being such a nice guy, gives into his whining and carries him at times.

Oh, yeah, he’s got a great sense of humor and thinks he’s “the man” when he acts like such a boy! {{giggle}} (He collects Hot Wheels)

Professor summed it up once and said he’s glad he could call Russ “friend.” Well I ditto that.

Way to go Ray…..now you got him going!

You should see him with his ummm, Play Doh with special sound properties that was picked up in a Green Bay cache this Fall.

That stuff is one of the cutest items I have ever seen in a cache.

Jacob has a can of fart fudge. If you ask nicely, he may let you play with it. He thinks it’s the greatest thing in the world!I, on the other hand, would gladly give it to you!!

Russell is a great guy! I had a blast doing the caches in Baird’s Creek with him. He’ll keep you laughing till your insides spill out!!
