Before a topic gets started on why I archived all of my caches, I decided to “rejoin” long enough to give an explanation and a few passing thoughts.

First off, my geocaching has changed dramatically as other interests have been much more fun and challenging for me personally and better suited what I enjoy doing. With the change in interests, I have had no time to maintain or check on my remaining caches I have hidden and feel that a number of finders are becoming fustrated with wet logs and gnawed on containers and even some missing ones so it is best to just archive them all and let others who still are very active in geocaching place caches in some of the areas I have been using.

While they are all archived, I still do not plan on picking up the caches until winter when my free time is much easier to find. This does not mean that others can or should go out and collect my caches for me as has been done without my permission on almost every other cache I have archived.
Should someone wish to use a location I have archived and wish to use my container – please write me and I will let you know if this is fine or not.

Since the caches will be in place for a few more months, please respect my right to archive them at my choosing and collect them on my timetable and do not hunt or log archived caches.
Oddly I even had someone hunt one of my archived ones and complain to me about it still being there, these folks really do not understand what archived means.

While I am sure I will still geocache on occasion myself, I think you will find that I will become one of the many 100 caches or less per year people that make up the majority of folks in Wisconsin and have no plans of hiding any in the future.

Also, QwertyToo can now stop waypointing my moves as I walk my dog or other future activities. I am not sure if tracking the every move of Wzbt03 is in the interest of mankind.

A couple of other thoughts to share:
There are some great caches in the Northwestern part of the state that still make the fever in geocaching return. I will finish the Three Legged Dog soon.

It appears that WGA is doing well at what they do best – social gathering. Keep it up and keep the focus on what can be done right in Wisconsin.

It would be great if on the recommended caches section, that people could list really hard or challenging caches and ones of historical note even if they are older ones. These seem to thrill the most people who have tired of another tupperware container under a tree or in a log.

Finally I would like to mention that the one of the best caches I have done this year is Lateral Thinking, it is a shame it has not be named COTM.
