I was doing a little solo caching in Illinois yesterday (This stuff never happens when Julie is with me to keep me straight). On my way from one park to another, I stopped to grab the “Welcome To Illinois” cache, located at the former location of an historical marker (interesting concept…) Well, the cache is located literally 5 feet from highway 45, so there was no way I was going to stand there and sign the log. I took it back to the truck to sign it. Of course, it was kind of overfull, and the log was at the bottom, so it took me quite a few minutes to sign in and put it all back together again. Then off to the next park about 2 miles down the road, which happened to have two caches. When I arrived, I looked over to my clipboard to see any cache details before heading out and saw the “Welcome To Illinois” cache hitching a ride with me! Oops! Drove back quickly to the site to replace it, but I hope no one tried to find it while I was carrying it around.
02/13/2006 at 7:13 pm #1761019I never heard of that before, but I can see how it could happen. I actually heard of a logbook inadvertantly being taken from a cache and moved to another cache. The person who took a travelbug from the first cache grabbed two baggies stuck together, unaware the thin log sheets were in the other one, and placed them both in the second cache. The only way I knew, was there was supposed to be coordinates for a bonus cache in the logbook, but there was no logbook for me to even sign when I found the cache.

02/13/2006 at 7:18 pm #1761020Yesterday in Eau Claire, we were doing one of the presidential series with a 4 terrain. It wasn’t… until I dropped the cap and watched it trace a delicate bouncing path about 100 feet down the hill and onto the ice. That upped the grade nicely.

It’s a lot like locking your keys in the house or in the car. I once drove out of one drive on a gas station just to drive back into the station at the other drive because I realized I hadn’t paid for the gas… [Fascinating look on the attendant’s face]. I think it has something to do with age.
02/13/2006 at 10:22 pm #1761022I’ve ordered at the drive-thru, paid, and arrived at home only to realize that I pulled away without any food.
More than once too…
I hate it when that happens.

Thanks, ForeFeathers … I needed a good laugh [Did I show you how to do that?]
02/14/2006 at 2:35 am #1761024The funniest one I’ve ever seen was posted on one of the Baseball Moving Caches that came though the Milwaukee area last year. This is the cache posting Cache-Stalkers left.

This was my first and maybe last time I move a cache. Finding the cache was easy. Then I proceeded to leave the tailgate open on the truck, and I lost the cache container on the highway. It takes me 2 days to recover the cache, the container is cracked, and so I buy a new one (an exact match I might add). Then I move it to its new location 90 miles west of my home only to discover I forgot to put the log book back in it!! I realized this when I was half-way home. So here is the deal – to the next person that finds this and continues to move it west, email me your address and I will promptly mail the log book to you so you can continue its journey back home to Utah. You can see it on cache: GCD4AE
The dedication of this cacher goes way beyond what you would expect!!

02/14/2006 at 3:15 am #1761025My turn. I once got a call from my wife telling me she locked herself and the kids out of the house. She sat in the garage waiting the 30 minutes until I got home. I pulled into the driveway, got out of the car laughing at her brain fart… and promptly locked my own keys in the car.
02/14/2006 at 3:41 am #1761026Last week I went through the bank drive-thru and I left with their container. I realized it after 2 minutes, turned around, went back and returned it. Tami

02/16/2006 at 7:03 pm #1761029when we were in las vegas last summer I had to take a cache with me
I found the cache and sat on a bench and the utility company drove up and parked between me and the hiding spot so I took it to the next cache and came back and sat for about 20 minutes before they left02/16/2006 at 8:20 pm #1761030Hmmmmmm lets see. How many times has I Left with a log book in my hand, left without taking or leaving the TB I was suppose to. Or forget to take the # off the TB when moving it the same day.
OK How many of you have gone to a gas station, got gas and left, BUT the pump you used didn’t take cards and you were SUPPOSE to pay inside. Both hubby and I did that once. Of course I came flying back totally embarassed. Good thing we both got back before the cops got to us. LOL
02/16/2006 at 8:26 pm #1761031How many times have you absconded from a cache with the pen or pencil in your pocket?
02/16/2006 at 8:55 pm #1761032At “Rainbow Red Raindrop” (GCJDZP) we we’re on the other end of the problem. Some guy the prior day accidentially pocketed this micro that is one of six needed to find the final. Luckly we were able to make due without that digit.
