Hate to be the one to start this thread… but we took two handicapped young adults caching all day Sunday and one of them got bit by a deer tick. They put her on antibiotics while waiting for the results from the lab if it has lymes or not.
Last year we purchased a plastic spoon looking item called “ticked off” we would highly reccomend it as it removed the tick head and all. Also would reccomend keeping clear tape handy and taping any ticks to a piece of paper with name and date of person bit as it can really help in preventing a long horrid battle with Lymes.
Get out your tick spray and be ready… we thought we had a few more weeks.
Timberline EchoesThe whole PCFrog gang went out with our geodog last Saturday into the woods and in total we found18 ticks crawling on us (dog as well). Hate to do it, but time to pull out the spray and wipes.
Suddenly I’m feeling itchy.

For some reason three posts are showing up on my browser, and the website won’t actually delete the first two when I try to delete them. Any ideas here?
Ahh, it says, “Only forum leaders are able to delete posts.” We now can’t delete our own posts? I’ve edited them to save screen space since I can’t delete them.

No, you cannot delete your own posts, nor can you delete the threads you start anymore.
I have run into ticks the last two weekends in Southeastern Wisconsin.
I know the deer tick is very small.
The ticks I’m seeing are larger – but do not have the typical pattern (variegated blacks, browns) on their back that you see with a wood tick.
I checked with the local DNR for help in identifying these ticks – the information they had was pitiful! (Primarily, only identification of the deer tick.)
Does anyone have a good source for identifying ticks?
