I was watching Madison’s Ch. 27 ABC WKOW the other day, and they mentioned that they will air a segment about geocaching on their 10:00pm local news on Wednesday, May 10.
They started the leader showing an older gentleman finding an ammo can in the woods.
Then they followed it by mentioning that some people in the state capitol was a bit worried about the activity. 
(I think they were hinting that possibly some new state laws were being considered concerning geocaching.)Well, I just wanted to give everyone here the heads up on this. I’ll have to watch and see what it really is all about.

We were also told about another Madison station that will be airing a report on Sunday (after the campout). Two of our favorite cachers will be appearing in that one…you may have seen them on another Madison area report last year…
With any luck, whatever bad comes from Wed, will be forgotten after the report on Sunday.

That would Rhonda (WISearchers) and John (Cachew) on Channel 15 at 10PM. We were able to show a local reporter the positive and fun side of unhiding ammo cans!

I heard a possibility that Channel 15 may broadcast our interview tonite – to keep up with Channel 27. So I’ll be flippin channels!
I’ll have to record both and find out!
I’m hoping channel 27’s report isn’t negative, their ad/lead into it seems to be making it that way so far.

The Channel 27 story sounded a little uninformed, but in general, not too bad.
Yeah, the DNR is working to get a geocaching policy in place by this summer…..and how long have we been trying to do that?
And who the HECK is that geocacher??

I concur – the DNR guy was really positive compared to the reporter. The geocacher did a good job in my book. Who are you?
Anyway, I’d venture to say that the report on NBC Channel 15 (which didn’t happen tonite) will be very positive. Sunday at 10…

The geocacher’s name is Steve Biedermann and he has 40 finds. Does that ring any bells for anyone?
Where did that figure of 80,000 geocachers in Wisconsin come from? That seems like an awful lot. But then that might explain why so many people showed up at my breakfast event.
Yeah, 80,000 geocachers from WI does seem like a lot. I wonder if there is a way to generate an accurate statistic about this from geocaching.com…
I noticed that CommanderUSN had logged this cache “GCHWJB” and a few other nearby caches on April 7 and mentioned being with guys from channel 27. so I would bet that was commanderUSN on the news.
