When I do take my camera in the front pack I find it very handy to rest my GPSr on it while hiking. Lately I have not been taking my camera on every hike. I keep the the GPSr on a lanyard and if I am wearing a shirt with a pocket I use that. But if I have no camera or pocket I get tired of holding the GPSr all the time… this got me wondering is there a better way? How do you carry your GPSr while caching? Is there some type of sache with a pocket, do I need a fishing vest???
Mrs. Timberline EchoesI use a lanyard and keep it around my neck, or stick it in a pocket with the antenna sticking out.
I know someone here (I’ll let him speak for himself) who makes a really nice lanyard attachment for many GPSrs.

I would like to meet the person who designed my GPSr, the lanyard eyelet is on the opposite side of the antenna so if I hang it around my neck the antenna points down. We end up playing its your turn to hold the GPSr….

When the tree cover forces me to use a “real” GPS, I often stick it in a pouch that attaches to a strap of my backpack or CamelBak. This keeps it upright, 5 feet above the ground, and away from from my body (for the most part)… which means I usually have a good satellite lock.

I have been looking into trying to put my gps on myhiking staff still no luck on that, unless i go with duct tape and then that starts looking hickish.. and i’m already hickish enough hahaha
