We just returned from Wisconsin Dells, where we made some time to geocache (not enough!). There is a cahe in Rocky Arbor State Park called “Rocky Arbor” of all things. 😆 This park is one of the most beautiful parks I have ever been in. The hike into the cache was an awesome trail with nature around every turn. The path is quite uneven in spots but it is well marked. I knew before leaving to go to the Dells I would only have time for a few caches there. I did my research, and this one seemed the best, and of the ones we did, it sure was.
We did this cache earlier this spring and while I agree it was beautiful, our experience was less enjoyable. That was due entirely to the blasted swarms and clouds of mosquitos! We found it but I have never run to and from a cache so fast in my life! 😆
This cache was my first DNF two years ago. We finally had a chance to return with greyhounder this summer. We brought mosquito netting hats and we used them for sure! I’ve never seen skeeters that big before.
Found it this time. 😀
And, yes, I’ve recommended this cache to others.
Very true on the skeeters, but we covered ourselves with lemon-eucalyptus first. The skeets were no match. The bad part was the “cave” full of spiders, but nothing a big long stick couldn’t handle. What kind of spider makes webs like those, I don’t know. They looked like mini- galactic nebulea.
