      Saturday, August 26th 4-7 PM

      Plans are underway for a gathering of Central Wisconsin geocachers at Rib Mt. State Park in Wausau. We have had a surge of geocaching activity in the last year and this is a chance for all those folks to get together with other cachers for an afternoon/ evening cookout.

      Camping is available and some are planning on staying over.

      If you’d like to make plans to do “The Three Bad Ribs” (or other local caches) with some other cachers this would be a good place to make those plans.

        We are hoping to tackle Sandhill Wetlands that weekend… so if anyone wants to come with us that would be great too. We did the 3 Bad Ribs a couple years ago… bring plenty of water, a hiking stick, a camera and wear good hiking boots. We’ll meet ya at the top…

          I have updated the page with some more specific information. After seeing the WGA picnic I just “borrowed” the set up for this much smaller event.

          Timberline Echoes- it doesn’t seem that you’re drawing a large swamp-caching contingent. I’d go with you but I’ll be so busy with getting the grills ready and stuff. I did that one in waders. 🙂

            Doing a little knooing is sounding better everyday. We had ours out again today but will not be able to bring it along to Rib Mtn. We have an appointment in Marshfield on Fri. and will be bringing our Mazda, not the truck that carries the canoe.

              Team Margaritaville will be heading to wausau. Anybody up for some easier caches? I would love do to more difficult ones but with the misses being almost 8 months along and a 5yr old in tow I think well just go quantity on saturday. Anybody want to tag along with us?

                I hope to cache before and after the event, all weekend, and would be happy to cache along with anyone, either saturday or sunday.

                On another subject, my camper is in urgent need of multi repairs, so I guess I will not be camping, unless I come up with a tent or something by then. I am wondering if anyone wants a free campsite, in exchange of letting me share their tent???

                    Will try to post again… hit a glitch or something. We are in Wausau and are not sure if others want to meet to cache, what time and where.
                    We are planning on mucking through to Sandhill in the morning and anyone who wants to join us need to either post on here before 8 a.m. or give us a call. Our phone is 715 617 2946 We also hope to hit the 3 letterboxes on the Rib before the event begins, anyone who cares to join us is welcome to hike along.

                      We have had several emails from folks wanting to get together to do some caching tomorrow. We plan on trying to get the first come main shelter around 8:30-9:00 AM and spending the day on Rib (But we’ve done most all the local caches and don’t know who has planned to meet with whom to go caching).

                      My son is planning on leading some of his friends (cachers too) on the Three Bad Ribs around 12:30.

                      Anybody that doesn’t manage to connect with others that want to cache could just meet at the shelter and see who else is around. Timberline Echoes- we would be interested in trying the letterboxes with you if we’re all set up and have time.

                        I am in campsite #1, staying overnight in a tent on loan from bnb.

                        will stop by the main shelter area around 1 or so, to see if anyone wants to go get a few local caches with me prior to the event.

                          We too have done all the “local” caches. We are heading out to Sandhill by 9 Sat. a.m. If we are not back by 4 send a search party for us… LOL!!
                          Soon as we are done and do a quick stop at Best Buy we will meet you on top the Rib. Then see who all wants to letterbox.

                              It was great meeting everybody. I will definetely be back up again if you guys run this again. Looking forward to meeting many new cachers out on the trails.
