I looked at the About Us link and came up with the following:

Our purpose is to plan geocaching events in Wisconsin that are open to everyone who wishes to sign up and participate. In turn, the events we plan are designed for:

    *Meeting people
    *Communication
    *Education
    *Having fun!

We also support the sport of geocaching in Wisconsin. We are currently working with the Wisconsin DNR to develop a statewide geocaching policy for Wisconsin state parks….

And the bylaws in Article II: Purposes says…

The purposes of the WGA are to:

*Work as closely as possible with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and other property management officials to protect the rights of individuals to geocache in the state of Wisconsin.
*Provide an opportunity for geocachers in the State of Wisconsin to gather and socialize with one another.
*Promote the “Cache In Trash Out” and “Leave No Trace” programs to help in the maintenance of parks and trail systems.
*Educate Wisconsin geocachers about the responsible use of natural resources and educate non-geocachers about the sport of geocaching.

Is this the basic mission statement for the WGA? With the elections here, I think it is a good time to see exactly what the mission statement of the WGA is and what the organization is here to do. I think knowing this would help people know what to expect out of it’s board and help the board focus on exactly what is expected out of them.

As a group are we meeting these goals?

Are we meeting these expectations, or is it all smoke and mirrors?

I have been called naive in the past, but from my viewpoint, I think we have been doing a pretty fair job of it. We may be a little weak on CITO events, but I do see a regular effort by our cachers to clean as we go.

I believe we have done well.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m in no way implying that the board or the members are not meeting the goals, but rather looking to restate them at election time and to refresh in everyones mind exactly what this organization is about…and Yes I agree that your statement is a fair and accurate one.

I took your question to be constructive and timely. I did not see it as criticism. Thank you for bringing this up as the concepts presented are central to our existence. We should never lose sight of these principles.
