Just wanted to let everyone know that there will be a meet & greet in Escanaba MI (45 min north of Marinette) on March 24. Hope to see some of you there!
02/22/2007 at 6:17 am #1770484Very interested in going to your meet and Greet. Would also be interested in coming up on Saturday, and doing some caches. Are there any good caches around the Meet and Greet site?

Cool, I am glad to hear that you are interested on coming up, although it is not actually my event…but I will be there! There are some very nicely done caches around the Escanaba area, but the terrain in this area isn’t particularly difficult (not like Marquette or Copper Country caches, it is just a flat area). I will think about it and try to come up with a possible list of caches for you.
02/22/2007 at 3:28 pm #1770486Here are some of the cooler caches (IMO) in the Escanaba area (on the first 2 pages of search for zip 49829). Also, please bear in mind that several of the area caches are ours, so I will include them in the list.
Little Bay de Noc View is a fairly unique hide on Lake Michigan (this is our cache and it will be active before the event). ** Disclaimer – Our Cache
Peer From Here unique cache container with a nice view of the lake.
A Nice Walk On Aronson Island offers nice views of the lake and takes you to the public beach. **Disclaimer – our cache
Lookout!!! brings you to the Escanaba River and the third dam. ** Disclaimer – our cache
Remembering Portage Point if you only do one cache in the area on your trip up here, this is the cache to do in my opinion.
Escanaba River Portage Pretty spot along the Escanaba River, takes you to the canoe portage for the 2nd dam
Paul Bunyan’s Slingshot takes you to a unique spot.
Finally!!! A Decisive Voter Nice hide at the Gladstone Sports Park
Phantom of a Collage Road Trip Unique hide in the area, very near the Decisive Voter cache
Bored, go for a walk very pretty walk along Lake Michigan in Gladstone
Get Up, Get Out Of Here, Gone, A Home Run! Unique hide to the area, if the weather stays like it is I will have it active in time for the event. ** Disclaimer – Our cache
Ring Around The Days Nice walk in the woods along the Days River
Perronville IMO this is in a very interesting location. ** Disclaimer – Our cache
Inland Island A very neat boat launch in Rapid River
Roscoe Pratt Memorial Cache Very unique hide, a fun one to hunt. There are a few other caches in Escanaba and there is only one parking lot cache in town. Any of the other caches in Escanaba will probably not dissapoint. There are also quite a few caches in Gladstone.
Please note that I left out caches that are on the first two pages of 49829 because they are on the other side of the bay. If you decide to take a ride over there (Stonington Peninsula) it is a very pretty area.
Also, you can’t go wrong hitting any of the caches along M35 on the lakeshore.
Hope to see you there!

I am looking forward to meeting all of you that are thinking about coming up.
FYI, Lynn and I went out yesterday afternoon and hid 4 new caches in Escanaba, which are yet to be published as of yet, so keep your pocket queries up to date. I am hoping to get out this week and hide a few more, but I will have to see what the week brings.
Also, our Little Bay de Noc View cache will be activated by the weekend. I stopped by yesterday to put out the container, but I brought the wrong container and was unable to rehide it because of that. It will be good to go by the weekend though.
One more thing. I have been talking with 2_UP_Geologists (event hosts) about the event. They have made a last minute decision to include a door prize table. We will be donating a fully stocked and camouflauged container and an unactivated tb dog tag. We also have one other idea, but I am not sure if we will be able to do it or not. If anyone has anything they would like to donate for a prize table, please bring it along!
We look forward to seeing you soon!
03/20/2007 at 1:45 pm #1770495The 5 new caches that we hid in Escanaba on Sunday have been approved…make sure to update your pocket queries!

03/25/2007 at 6:57 pm #1770497WE did!!!! What was the ratio of cheeseheads to yoopers??? Saw WGA tags everywhere and had to remember where we were???
Thanks again it was great and all three of us are ready to enjoy our prizes!!!
