Just thought I would let everyone know that WIS 54 is currently “closed” between I-39 and US 10. WISDOT News Release
It is currently scheduled to be resurfaced starting in “spring” with completion in June.
This shouldn’t be too much of a problem since the park is less than five miles from US 10, but I thought people coming from the west and southwest would want to know.

Hwy 54 is locally posted as being open from Waupaca west to Hartman Creek State Park, but closed from the Waupaca-Portage County line to Hwy 51/39.
As time nears, we’d be happy to post driving directions from the four corners of the state.
This section of the highway was just repaved a short time ago. Apparently the new surface is breaking up, and chunks are being thrown up and taking out windshields. WI DOT is working on a settlement with the comntractor, but meantime, closed the road in the interest of safety.
Sounds like somebody really droopped the ball.

Is 54 open if coming from the east?
I normally take 41 north to 10. West on 10 to 54. Can I get in from 10 on 54 ?
The sign on Hwy 10 in Waupaca says Hwy 54 is open to the west all the way to Hartman Creek State Park. The sign was up there last night, and has been since the project began. I would not anticipate any problems.
As I understand it, the constructiopn starts at the Waupaca-Portage County line, which is a bit west of the park.
Hope everybody has a lot of fun, we enjoyed the last campout here in Waupaca. We’ve had out-of-town plans on the calendar for many months and won’t be able to attend.
