I know that Palm has a file to run to “update” Palms with regarding to Daylight Saving (it’s mentioned in another forum topic, I know) … BUT here’s my question:
Do I really need to bother running Palm’s update … IF I manually went into my Palm’s preferences, then went to my current time “location” and manually changed the “rules” for the Start/Stop of Daylight Saving?
I changed the week to “second” … changed the month to “March” and left the day at “Sunday”. Seems like that should handle it … is there some reason I don’t understand to bother running the Palm update software still?

03/13/2007 at 1:58 pm #1871213I received an update in my email from palm. Quick and easy install.
I question if you don’t update will it revert back to when you sync next? My palm backs up all the data and when it re syncs everything is back. Just a thought03/13/2007 at 2:21 pm #1871214Commenting on the comments of others …
Yes, I also changed the “end of DST” settings also … I changed them to: First Week / November / Sunday … I just forgot to mention that. So in theory I should be “set for life”, or at least the life of the Palm.
Good point, not sure what will happen when I sync the Palm … I should try that. I hope the settings don’t jump back. That could be the only reason I see to use the software “fix” (since I’ve made the change manually already) … maybe the Palm software on the desktop computer also gets “fixed” by the “fix”. I will try that tonight and report back.

I synced both our Palms … everything stayed they way it should (ie. time didn’t change, the change to the DST scheme didn’t change, schedule Calendar appointments didn’t change).
To the best of my experience, I don’t think the PC-side of the Palm sync process “cares” about what time it is. I see no place to deal with Time Zones or Time of Day on the PC-side.

From Palm
All users: In the event of a hard reset, this update will need to be installed and run again on your device.Regardless of which way you go, if your PALM does have a hard reset, which mine has done 2 times in 1 year, you will be back to square one.
