Yesterday, we did the caches on the Omaha Bike Trail. This was the first time we combined biking and geocaching. We enjoyed the trip a lot. Now, I’m looking for some help in locating other bike trails which contain geocaches. Thanks in advance

04/02/2007 at 12:06 am #1872439There are two on the LaCrosse River Bike Trail near West Salem, and about 3 miles further east, you can easily access another one just off the trail in the Bangor Village Park. We hope to plant another one more toward the LaCrosse end of the trail, and if you’re ambitious and want to continue on and connect to the Great River Trail, I know there is one close to that that vtwinspin placed–Trappers Paradise–another one further along called Ona Trail, and one that is currently underwater, the final hide of a multi, called VanLoony.
04/02/2007 at 2:41 am #1872440I have a series of caches along the Chippewa River Trail. I dont recall how many there is, and I cant get onto gc.com to check or post the bookmark list, but I think is like 30 or 35, between Eau Claire and Durand. The bike trail is pavement for the first 8 miles or so, and then is good quality shale, easy to ride on. The route is quite scenic, especially the western half from Caryville on.
There are also a number of caches on the Red Cedar Trail south of Menomonie. This is a first rate trail, probably a little more scenic than the Chippewa River Trail, and is good quality shale. There are fewer caches on this trail, but probably about 10 or 12 or so. The Red Cedar Trail joins the Chippewa River Trail at an old trestle.

04/02/2007 at 10:54 am #1872442I have few on the CAMBA Trail system in the Hayward area and I am working on a series that involves more on the CAMBA trails that I hope will go live soon! 😀
04/02/2007 at 3:45 pm #1872443The http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/org/land/parks/specific/whiteriver/index.htm (White River Trail) runs from Elkhorn to Burlington WI. there are (that I know of) three caches ON the trail as well as one more very near each end of it.
It’s a very nice crushed limestone converted railbed type of trail so it’s nice riding and dry.
04/02/2007 at 6:54 pm #1872444😛 Don’t forget the Bugline Trail that runs from Menomonee Falls to the Village of Lisbon, about 12-13 miles in all. It has several caches all along the trail that are a lot of fun to find.
04/02/2007 at 8:52 pm #1872445It took me a bit to figure out how to add bookmarks to it, but I made a bookmark list of caches on the White River Trail I mentioned above.

04/02/2007 at 9:30 pm #1872446Hello from Minnesota: Come visit our Root River Bike Trail. It goes for about 45 miles, it is completely paved and completely free to use. I know of at least 4 caches on it between Rushford and Lanesboro, plus if you’re down this way April 28th, there will be a few more (temps) in conjunction with the CITO Event that I’m hosting in Lanesboro that day.
04/03/2007 at 6:27 pm #1872447I just created a list for caches along the “Ozaukee County Interurban Bike Trail”, which takes your through Ozaukee County (what a surprise) from North to South:
http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.aspx?guid=70650e8b-7730-4293-bd80-b5a6eb4374b7
As I noted in the list … most of these caches are on or close to the trail, but I did list some exceptions that are a mile or two off trail, when the trail goes through “cache dry” areas (due to how close it gets to active railroad tracks on occasion).
04/09/2007 at 10:14 am #1872448Here is the bookmark to caches along the Chippewa River Trail:
http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.aspx?guid=a86e39cd-79e9-4d36-8219-33695ac5955d
The trail is 30 miles long between Durand and Eau Claire and fairly scenic. There are currently 50 caches along the trail, some easy and some not so easy.
