This weekend I found a cache that had somehow been destroyed and had its contents scattered all over the area. In the cache was a yellow Jeep TB. The jeep is missing its tag though and I wasn’t able to find it anywhere. The person that placed it in the cache wrote its tracking number in the paper log and I was able to log on-line that I found it. What should I do now? I think I’m going to put it in a baggie with a note that includes the tracking number. Any other suggestions?

If you’ve ever activated your own TBs, did you happen to keep the “Copy” tags that come with TBs (or at least use to come with them).

If you have one of those “Copy” tags in hand, I’d suggest spray painting the tag, then writing the TB code on it with a permanent marker.

I use my copy tags this way on occasion to mark coordinates for the next leg of a multi (rather than a container with a slip of paper) … they seem to hold up well. I’ve had one hanging in mid-air for well over a year now without any fading issues.

Contact me through my Contact Page at WayTags.com with the info you’d like on the tag including the tracking number. I will gladly supply an engraved replacement tag free of charge.

    That’s nice of you Jeff!

One thing I did in the past was make a replacement TB tag out of shrinky-dink stuff. A laminated card would work in a pinch too.
