We’ve been asked for suggestions of places to eat. Waupaca has the usual lineup of franchises – McD’s, BQ, Pizza Hut, Culvers, etc. There are also some nice moderately priced family restaurants – Waupaca Woods (715-258-7400), King’s Table in King (715) 258-9150, Northern Trails in King (715) 256-1298, and if you want a bit fancier and pricier, Simpson’s in downtown Waupaca (715) 258-2330. The Wheelhouse (715) 258-8289 and Clearwater Harbor (715) 258-9912 are on the Chain-O-Lakes in King, and have a bar. Chinese is available at Chef Chu’s in King (715) 258-8434 or China House in Waupaca (715) 258-8680.
Of all of these, Woods Restaurant is our favorite, but call in the morning for a reservation, or be prepared to wait for quite awhile for a table.
Have a great time! Wish we could join you, but longstanding committments will prevent us from coming out.

This frilly person would like to know how far it is to a real latte. Not the Kwik Trip kind, but the real espresso/steamed milk kind. I can certainly survive without, but if one is close I just may find my way to it.
Thanks!

To get to King, exit the park and turn right on Rural Rd, and go all the way east to Hwy 22. Turn left on 22, go north past the Dayton Town Hall to the signs for Hwy QQ and the King Vet’s Home. Turn left, drive into King and check out the ‘Strip’, our own mini version of the Dells. All kinds of interesting little places, but alas, no caches.

05/14/2007 at 7:06 pm #1874221There is also a great Irish restaurant called T.W. McQuarters located just off Main Street as well as a great pizza joint on Main Street called Uptown Pizza.
For those of you looking for something a little different, there is a FABULOUS fish boil place called Van Dyke’s in Scandinavia (N 44° 27.60 W 089° 08.90). Friday night they only have fish, but on Saturday they have BBQ chicken and ribs as well. Little bit of a drive down HWY 49, but completely worth it. I will be eating there Saturday night for sure so if anyone wants directions just track me down.
I also highly recommend the Woods Restaurant. Just be sure to take your appetite…even then you may have to skip a couple meals. 🙂 They are entirely smoke free so that is a nice plus as well.
Looking forward to this weekend and can’t wait to meet everyone!
