My father and I went out today with some kids from the high school to team up with the DNR to help locate new born elk near Clam Lake WI. They tag, collar, weigh them. They are in the middle of calving season right now. WE FOUND ONE!

After we got done with this little girl, we stop for lunch at a little wayside about a 1/2 a mile from the location that we found the calf.

While eating lunch, I grabbed my gps to show someone how to use it and tad-ah!! There’s a cache .13 miles from me.

I wolfed down my sandwich and ran down the trail to get the cache before we left on our next mission.

    Pretty cool day I’d say.

The calf was no more than 3 days old. weighed 37#’s . One of 13 new ones so far this spring. They had found 3 Monday, but 2 had already been killed by bears.

Oh, what a lucky find! I was talking to someone here who was going to be doing this, I wonder if she found any.

    Thanks for sharing her.
