The Groundspeak Weekly mailing has a request form link within it to request a Travel Bug to release for this years Jeep Challenge.
Quoted from the email (I think I can post this…):
“The 2007 Jeep Geocaching Challenge begins on July 1st, 2007 in the USA. This year, it’s a red die-cast Jeep Commander vehicle with a Travel Bug tag attached. As of today, we’re enlisting geocachers to hide approximately 8,000 Jeep Travel Bugs in caches located in the lower 48 United States. If you are interested in placing a 2007 Jeep Travel Bug into a cache near you, please complete the request form, located here (while supplies last):http://jeep.geocaching.com/signup/
Visit http://jeep.geocaching.com on July 1st for details about the 2007 Jeep Geocaching Challenge.”

06/15/2007 at 11:02 pm #1876031๐ Last year they handed them out at the MidWest Geobash. Glad they are doing it differently this year. Tami
Put in my order. Thanks!06/15/2007 at 11:47 pm #1876032@ecorangers wrote:

Put in my order. Thanks!I was hoping that I’d get one (OK dozens) there as well………….
06/16/2007 at 3:02 am #1876033Since there are three members of 3 Hawks, can I request three Red Jeep TB’s?
06/16/2007 at 4:03 am #1876034I don’t know, there isn’t really anything that says yes or no. We’re just requesting one for our family. I figure there is a limited number out there so it’s only fair to let others get them too ๐
(That and I’m worried about our chances being ruined if we entered both our names in w/ our one Geocaching.com username hehehe)

06/16/2007 at 4:07 am #1876035I’m just glad they are getting them out this way. I went 4 months last year before I found my first Green Jeep.
06/16/2007 at 4:09 am #1876036So…if we get one, can we log it right away?
06/16/2007 at 4:41 am #1876037I assume so. You just ‘found’ it in your mailbox ๐

Yes. You “grab” it into your inventory so you can place it in a cache. That counts.
06/16/2007 at 5:39 pm #1876039I applied for a red jeep TB this morning. I have been caching for 2 1/2 years, have 5 hundred something finds, and can you believe, I have never found a jeep TB in a cache!?

Yeah, I believe that. I’ve only found one in an actual cache. The rest have been handed to me by somebody.
06/17/2007 at 4:52 am #1876041I had found a white Jeep TB and I guess I didn’t realize what I had until I placed it in one of my caches and I had a host of cachers falling over each other to get it. ๐ฏ

06/17/2007 at 5:01 am #1876042The only jeep I ever found was the one that came in the mail last year.
06/17/2007 at 1:04 pm #1876043The problem here is that there are cachers who are hording them. I know of two active cachers that have found 600+ and 1100+ caches each, 16 and 23 jeeps respectively and hold 4 and 2 in their personal inventory. 5 of the six jeeps have been held for over a year and the 6th has been held since August.
That is only two cachers that I know of, I am sure there are many, many more. Turn the jeeps loose guys.
