I use Easy GPS. For the most part it works ok for me. Once in awhile thou, it will download some errant coords, not sure why thou. This taught me to double check coords before heading out.

I just tried GSAK. Uffda! I deleted it. I could not figure out how to use it correctly I guess. Should I try it again? Is there something better or more user friendly?

For now I guess I will stick to my Topo Program and EasyGPS.

I would tick to GSAK if I were you. It will do just about anything you want. There are plenty of more knowledgeable people than I that can help you through the initial learning process but it will be the best tool for the job.

GSAK has a bigger learning curve than most other methods due to its tremendous power, multitude of features, and superior compatibility with nearly every known GPS Technology around.

Easy GPS has the advantage of being able to plot out those coordinates on a map Which can come in very handy too.

I would give GSAK another whack. Read up on any FAQ’s or Forums at thier site. It really is a nice piece of software.

What kind of GPSr are you using?

GSAK is the only choice. Not only does it do a seamless job of file conversion and downloading, but with available macros, it will replace most of the mapping programs you currently use.

I do know a few geocachers use Mapsource (for Garmin) or Mapview (for Magellan) as their database, but these programs are not nearly as powerful as GSAK and (obviously) are limited to users having those brands of GPSs.

I echo the above comments about GSAK. I have found the software to be a tremendous help for our caching activities. The help files for this program is about as good as you will ever find, and if you can’t find an answer in there the GSAK forums at the GSAK site are very helpful as well.

Give it another shot, and I would suggest that any questions you have could easily be answered by fellow cachers in these forums. I have helped quite a few people with GSAK in the Michigan forums and am willing to answer any questions here.
